I agree. It makes sense for characters to be extra aware of events that happen to them, such as people whispering to them, giving them items, attacking them, or dragging them. Could we put a light green highlight with these events to make them stand out?
It would be interesting if a character could choose to pay attention to events related to someone else instead..

Light green highlight? I think bold would suffice.

I'd like to be able to select a radio dial or something next to an event and have a button "hide all events older than selected", so that I can keep track of where I am when I go saving someone's name or have to stop reading and do something else.

As a possibly impractical ideal, three tabs on the top of the page,
One for whispers, hits on self, project info, and fuel/starving messages.
One for any event that has any matches on a user defined list.
and everything.

Just bumping this one, I got throughly sold on this as an issue the other night, Small communities are easy to read, but subject to collapse if people go quiet or inside, large towns are noisy as hell and it's a lot of work to keep up.

What's the process for suggestions to actually make it in? Is progD responsible for the interface updates?

I think buildings should be sorted first by size, THEN by age (or even just the option to if we're deathly afraid of people getting confused). Usually the bigger ones are the more important buildings.

Could we just make it so that when you click to hide all events, that it hides all of them EXCEPT ones that occurred since the last time you refreshed the page? Nothing I like more than clicking "Hide All", then having to click "Show All" right after because something apparently happened between me first pulling up that character and clicking the "Hide All" button. I wind up just spamming the "Events" tab 6 or whatever times instead.

So on this.

Not my thing, not an aptitude or experience, only a little negotiation and snail mail away from joining the PRogD.Given up on world dynamic changes, might get ordered to look at something else. Will follow orders.

Failing all that. No one real will ask me to exclude myself from the industry for 5 years, for the right to work on some legacy $!000 a year code, minus costs. I can do this keeping my secrets and allowing them theirs.

As a player and a writer. I Want a CR in text. Just as a first stop to avoid reverse read lists. A full contact database for every player? that wold be nice. Somewhere in between?

I haven't been accepted yet, I will obey the chain of command if I am. Coding alternative player interfaces seems worthwhile to me, and I would love to see this thread become active with concrete suggestions of what people want.

Just got the paperwork e-mailed. Never seen such a generous contract. I am in.

The appearance of the <cr>? my ability to build an API and a view? As the man's right hand said "A short training period and actually coding
something is also required before giving out access, to filter away people only wanting to get their hands on the code."

Very reasonable consideration, considering we as a group can not afford trans-national legal battles. (or even letters of demand that will be taken seriously)

The next six months will involve some attitude adjustment. Either from me as I fail to make the grade, or from some others when I get a real position to say "I have done something, you have just talked, prehaps we should stop fighting and work for the good of Cantr."

Going off of the slap-warning thing that was split from here, I was thinking:

For new users and such, have a setting where the basic explanation of a page pops up for the first time you view a page, and have a link to the corresponding page on the wiki, and box at the bottom that says "Don't show me this again" and won't if you check it before hitting "OK". The setting would be on by default for all accounts made after this were implemented, and could be turned off or on at any time by indicating so in the player settings (i.e. [√] "Check if you want to see interface helper pop-ups. Uncheck if you no longer want to.").

God, yes, Snickie! I really would have loved such a feature when I started out. (Probably still would)

I would never check that "Don't show me this again" box just out of sheer laziness to make it easier for me to bring up the wiki every time I play Cantr.
