It was proposed in polish forum, but I don't know why it wasn't here. I made some pictures showing how it would look like.
first one using belt or chain:

Second one a little different:

Windmills don't have to be separate buildings.

I like it, but it wouldn't exactly fully fit cantr. Since there is no weather yet, windmills might have to wait tell that is implemented.
Pros:
Faster way of grind grain
Perhaps faster introduction of weather of more rping weather
Cons:
Weather isn't implemented yet, so no real rain.
Might be a lot more lag to cause. (but this is a con for everything now)

When you hope for something, you often believe in something. When you believe in something, you often have pride in it. Being proud often leads to a hating of some group.

I think anything that makes any portion of food production automatic is doomed to be rejected at this point. Drying racks have already made gathering food easy. Then again, since fish can be gathered easily now also, maybe everything needs to be made effortless to avoid favoring one food over another. I dunno. The food system is still all messed up, IMO.

It has been discussed among the RD before. For those of you with access to the RD forums, you can see the discussion here:

Because a windmill is more obviously reliant on the presence of wind - hence the word windmill. To make it not just another "meat drying" project, there has to be seasonal variation, times when wind is strong, which will lead to weather pattern prediction, and cause people not to totally rely on the windmill always working.
Another idea could be the water wheel - if rivers are ever implemented.

Windmills do not, i repeat, NOT work automatic. They do need human attention, like any machine. All the windmill does is adding a lot of power to the machine attached (a grinder, a water pump, a sawblade, etc.), so a lot of work can be done.
There will be varying winds (enough, too much, too little) in any climate, so climate is not an issue. The variations in wind could be represented by a larger variation in production than usual (50% instead of 20%).

You mean they used to. *grumble*
This going to be doomed to rejection and I agree to reject it. If later it makes some people angry because bread is a "free food" and their bakers can't do anything with it so causing to make someking of change that makes bread a useless resource, I reject it.
