Contact distanse on roads

Postby SCUBA » Thu Feb 02, 2006 10:41 am

On roads, how far apart can people be and still have contact? Is it measured in % of road length or pixels? Is my guess of 2 or 3 pixels a good one?

So if a runaway thief steals from me and runs, and I and my friends in town are asleep we will have at least half a day to go after him, and he will still be in sight for an attack? As full walking speed is 10 units per day and he probably will be loaded so he walks 7 or 8. If 8 he will reach 1 unit every hour and we can wait 5 hours and still catch him. Right?

Yes, every hour landtravel occur at about X:25 i think. If the thief has speed 8 units per day he should move 1 unit each hour at X:25.

So if he leaves at 1:24 he will be at unit 0 on the road. At 1:25 he moves to unit 1 and at 2:25 to unit 2 etc until 5:25 when he will move to unit 5 and get away. Is this not correct?

If not, please explain for me. I don't like those thiefs getting away.

Thats immaterial . If one of your character sees a thief leave , they should decide in game whether they give chase or not , You as the player should RP your character based on what they would do, their personality and own experiance , not on explicit OOC calculations of walking speeds , likely loads or not.

Very true! Thanks!
An IG thought. You can hit at a distance with both melee and ranged weapons. It would be nice if melee weapons only worked at distance 0 and bows maybe at 3 and longbows at 5. This should maybe be on suggestions.

That may be unless the character experiments with how fast a person can travel and such. Then he or she could use only that information to judge whether he or she could catch up with a certain person or not.

Then have your character do those experiments IG , not on the OOC forums by your player
