Not wrong... They can pretend, but it doesn't mean others will believe them. It's more when they use things like "I'm flying and I'm a fairy or a unicorn or something" that there's a problem unless they find a way to tie those terms into Cantr.
All you are doing is proving how subjective the CR is..
Someone got reported for being a fairy.... and yet people are allowed to have knights .. the difference.. there is none!
Knight is a common word for an armed guard. It isn't limited to fantasy or medieval stories. Fairy is not so much a common word for anything substantial except something with wings that flies around.
If I spawn a character and call them a wizzard, role play a magic wand and say abracadbra a lot, most people will ignore but, but you can bet a thread reporting me for a CRB would appear within 24 hours!
Yes, if you say abracadabra a lot and just run around being stupid and don't try to rp something substantial. It really depends on how you incorporate it. Of course, you could create a secret society of people that go by the title wizard and carry sticks around as a sign of wealth and the secret greeting of your wizard brothers (or whatever) is abracadabra indicating the magic of friendship, at least then it would be something not quite in conjunction with the RL implication of wizard.
Given the puritanical application of the CR to some things I just think the phrase I quoted will mislead a new player... its Wrong!
And no, it's not. The CR is subjective. It always will be because no one can determine exactly where that fine line goes and never will be able to. There are only guidelines to try and avoid it.
