So...what would happen if the "owner(s)" of Cantr decided "You know...it's time to pull the plug." I suppose that betrays a bit of morbid curiosity, but I wonder what would happen...a grand finale? ...a sudden darkness with an error message staring back from my browser? And I wonder if there is a number, whether players or payers, that would determine that.

Hmmm...

I'm sure there will be lots of support from the players if this so-called "End" would ever be near.

Cantr won't die anytime soon. :D

It's very frustrating to see one of my extremely expanding communities not receive one single spawn in the time a similarly sized one that only gathers and manufactures gets half a dozen... :?

Fixing that should be priority #1.

I second this opinion

We're now at 368 English speakers and dwindling...i'm telling ya it's all about creating a buzz on the internet community and the best way for that is for us to start talking about Cantr on other message boards...We do need people to join but we need people to join who know what the game is about and what can be done playing it.

Yes. The problem is that we need to do it on message boards that Cantr players already frequent. Promoting a game when you're a forum noob guarantees you'll be ignored. So, if you're a known denizen of other forum communities, please use your influence there to promote Cantr! If you're not and have free time, consider joining a forum and getting yourself established there.

Promoting Cantr is not enough. For all those years we brought to Cantr thousands of people and where are they? Why they didn't stay?

What is the difference between Cantr and Second Life, EVE or Warhammer?
For sure not the idea - Cantr idea will always be fresh, when for instance Second Life is extremely boring experience. Not fees - Cantr is for free, when the other charge their players sometimes quite high.

So why in Cantr play just hundreds of players and in the others: dozens of thousands?

I think, appearance makes a difference.

I'm sure if we add to Cantr graphics, best 3D - not even necessary to be crysis-like but whatever graphics - Cantr would have the potential to become a global, very popular game.

I don't think this is impossible, I do not think it's either very expensive.
Recently I played Mount&Blade - a game originally developed by one guy who just wanted to do a game. He spent 3 years, but he did it and during all that time a big community of fans who just get know somehow about the game helped in development. It's just amazing. No big budget, no marketing, no logistic - just the idea and determination.

What is clear for me, Cantr has a big loyal community - why don't we make a game for us all which will look like one of XXI century?
The game mechanics could stay as it is, all history, chars etc. could be transferred but let's change the appearance.

What do you think?

A Mount&Blade type of visual game will be impossible for Cantr and will destroy the roleplay. It'd be odd to *drinking from a cup of water, finishing it then throwing it at the prisoner* while you're just standing there.

Of course, I do think that instead of a simple, green page, we should at least make it a bit fancier and the game layout a bit fancier.

Perhaps what we should do to make Cantr interesting is to get rid of the Wiki, it will make people curious, instead of having all the information laid out to them. They will feel motivated to seek information and also adds more variety to trading instead of the dull "day for day labour" trade.
