When spawning a new character, or as a twenty-something in general, it's really hard to work up the gumption to actually work and legitimately earn a big item (vehicle, boat), when it's so easy for all of that hard work to go down the drain should you come across the wrong people. Especially if the place you're doing it in is a vehicle/ship graveyard.
It's also hard to stay on the path of honesty or goodness in a character when I had a character spawn, steal a boat, and literally stop at every place along the coast and grab whatever wasn't nailed down. No one ever even noticed, and now they've got a semi-legitimate presence and trade setup.
Many others spawned and are toiling quietly away in half-empty towns for rates leaders demand them to be grateful for.
I wish the Cantr economy was less diamonds (massive supply with a forced bottleneck by controlled trade limiting) and more true supply and demand.
Don't get me wrong, as a play style I commend the players for solid RP work, but as a player it's hard to keep interest in that character. I don't do traditional MMOs cause I can't stand what is colloquially known as farming (replaying the same quests or raids to earn xp and gold for things I actually want) but here in Cantr I am literally farming just to start my story, you know?
I know, I know, it's the same old story, same old whine, but it just seems like until you're 30 you spend mostly a lot of time waiting on older people, or you break laws and steal things.
