IN RL I don't know how long I've got to not eat for before I die but I will know when it is soon. So maybe it is better that we know. And also finding out in game would mean death and isn't it a CR breach to use knowledge from one char to aid another thus all your chars would die trying to find out how long they can survive without food.

The policy only affects brand new players. After you've been at it for years, you then know all the stuff OOC and have to pretend anyway according to the CR. I see the rationale for the learn it IC rule, but what it actually ends up doing is putting the new players at a severe disadvantage.
I know the more burnt out and bitchy veterans enjoy exerting their superiority by tongue lashing the newbies for not knowing things that the people that have been playing for several months take for granted.
Sorry for sounding bitchy, but the whole argument feels pretty daft.

Yes, well said. The position should surely be that your characters have adequate knowledge of their physiology and even of some of the game's "basic laws of physics" the moment they spawn.
For example my very first character looked around and picked up meat and odds and ends from the ground after his first kill because he thought they were "his". None of my later characters did that. Should they have? Get real, people.

Yeah.
And that exactly the whole point of...

See your point the Anthony. Maybe that should just still work like that, I have a char right now desperately travelling to find somewhere with food, he has no idea how long he is going to live because I do not like to look at my status bars.

Do you guys really think that the first humans had to die to realise that hunger could kill them? That's a ridiculous argument.
But my point is more that interpretation of the hunger bar should be explained to new players. Remember that complete starvation would kill you, as in RL, but you can live to the age of 70 wearing no clothes and eating only raw potatoes. Cantr does not follow all RL mechanics, so I feel those that could potentially harm a character should be forewarned. By all means people should find out in character what a curing tub is for, but basic things like explained the inevitable conclusion of hunger should be explained. For instance 100% tiredness doesn't kill you, but 100% hunger does. I think that should be said.
Right, I'm done for now.

The problem is that cantarians have no "real" instinct.
They do have senses (like that msg when your hungry or when you hear someone talking, etc etc etc)
But they lack the so called "Engine" that makes them tick.
We are in fact that engine.
So in fact they should know that hunger is a bad thing because we drive them.
