To quote myself: "If you want 100% realism, turn off the computer and go for a walk." In the Real World, there were no cars until after many centuries of animal power had passed. In Cantr, we've got cars that don't need fuel and swords. This is not a big deal to me. It's just the Cantr Paradigm; this is how the world works, in the same way that the world of Star Wars has spaceships and lightsabers and the World of Darkness has vampires and werewolves. Cantr simply requires a little suspension of disbelief, and an acknowledgement that in the name of keeping the game playable, some laws of real-world physics may be glossed over a little.

Antimatter is being used in cancer treatment. Called a PET scan.
What is a PET scan? http://www.nuc.ucla.edu/html_docs/frame_pet.html
What is a postiron {the P in PET} http://www.fnal.gov/pub/inquiring/quest ... tion2.html
That being said no cancer in the game OK?
As for spaceships it might be an intresting diversion to be able to colonise a moon or another world free of the newly spawned. Sort of CIV like but....

Don't take my complaints on this matter to harshly, I'm just giving you my opinion.
Is its a great game and I don't think the cars are a really big matter.
As I have said before I'm just a bit worried about future techs...I really think that the mood will be totally spoiled if we have for example fiber optics and swords in the same time.

Cars and stuff...
I think that cars are too easy to get. I mean, they do take lots of resources, but it's not all that hard to get. Maybe gas (well definitely, but whether it will solve this), or maybe road decay, or harder to build, or something. Even more so with metal vehicles... I just feel that these things are too easy, and give too much for how easy they were.
I think that tech level advances as the people in question acquire more resources, tools, and, theoretically, knowledge. It's different for every person, though everything is open to everyone. I guess this might imply a high tech level for everyone, where people just don't have the material, but I think it's fine for the game that this is. I would like more variety, but I like what is there so far.

Consider this: History has been shaped by those who have had technology others haven't.
In real life you have to invent/discover how to make/do something, hence often long delays between linear advancements.
If in cantr we had to discover how to make things, like cars, it would open up a new market: info/blueprints/how to make stuff, and would balance the fact that those places near resources are instantly more powerful, as a place that has resources may not have had anyone discover/tell them how to make a certain item, that in another not so well located place they have
(and I think i've just posted this in the wrong forum, but it relates to, and is in reply, to this thread: oh well

Indeed! I believe the first car in the game was manufactured in Ladvicitavoi...or for an even less drastic example, look at the conquest of Naron: Lad had steel weapons, Naron had...a bunch of sand. Guess who won...

but those who have the materials can make the item. I don't think that is right. I think a greater dynamism can be achieved by having to discover how to make things. a place with a lot of one resource might know how to make more things with that material than one place, making it more unique. It may also trade away key resources easier than another place as no use for them has been discovered. I think it would make areas more distinct and interesting.

I think teaching or rather seeing that something can be built would be interesting.
I disagree a small amount with the notions of resourse = dominance.
On a regional level this is true. But multi-reginally it's the opposite. Once a regional power "civilizes the barbarians" it's only a matter of time before the regional power evolves into a golden age and becomes less militaristic. And some point a far flung, former or outer provinces builds up enough strength and moves cautiousally to "sack Rome".
There's only a few regional powers in the game so it will be some time before there's a multi-regional one. And some time after that before it falls. But it could happend.
To quote a Cantr leader from the other day who will not be named {not one of my chracters}.
557-7: a leader says: "...holding onto land gained is that much more difficult."
