Marketing department suggestions.
I expect many people feel as I do, I wish I could reply to the call for help in the marketing department. Unfortunatly life is very hectic and I barely have enough time to play as it is...
My suggestion is a sticky for marketing suggestions, so that we can have everybody contributing visibly. Visibly in order to stimulate ideas between us and promote promoting Cantr

I no bugger all about marketing, in any form.
But I have wondered if the registration process could be done without a PD check?
If browsing for a game to play - people are likely to just move on if they can't play straight-off
What is the % of people who apply, get a PD response, and never login?
If a 'tutorial island' gets created, we could just allow anyone to spawn there immediately, and then they get more characters

Whoever you vote for.

Most spam like that is created by scripts/bots of some kind, which are specific to the location attcked - like the phpBB software these forums run on.
I doubt Cantr would be popular enough to write a script for...
On that topic though - and I know too little about the subject to be sure of this - would it be possible to write a script/macro which can be run by each player to auto-vote on the voting sites?
(And I ask purely out of interest, I would never promote such a thing...)

There are a few rings where you could get listed. I'd also suggest coming up with a snappy motto - and maybe an image to go with it. Like "When you're looking for something more addictive than crack" - and then take one of those WWII era posters where the guy is smiling and holding something out - paste Cantr, the green scheme and whatever logo you want over it, and link it back to the site. Then have players use it as their sigs on other forums.
It'd probably get a few clicks. How much time would MD be expected to put in? An hour a day? However long it takes? You never see your friends or family again?
GREAT signature, by the way, Phalynx! You made my day. Ah, for some sugar cake right now . . .

With the number of PD members increasing, GAB members and Jos also working the apps, I would say that waiting time is very low - perhaps an hour at the most.

I don't know if anyone has done this - what about a Cantr Facebook or MySpace group? I know that on Facebook at least, the newsfeed would get the group name exposed to a large number of people. People are usually more prone to trying new things when it's presented to them in a clever way through a familiar source.

Graffittis in RL could be a great propaganda. Just imagine a green-smiley face on a wall with the legend www.cantr.com... Nothing to say if there's some extra slogan.
Banners... but I think they're too expensive to be set on massives sites. Actually, I believe Cantr is reached for those who are searching for it. How make Cantr go to your PC and say "hello here I am Try me", well, that's the question...
Nevertheless, I've always admired the way The Blair Witch project was promoted. "Impact" is the best way to announce something.

OK, so when I go graffiti the sherrifs department with a green smiley face and www.cantr.net under it they come stick you in jail since you suggested the vandalism act to promote our game. *winks*
Every action has a consequence.
