no docking message for Coaster Harbors

Postby Marian » Tue May 30, 2006 4:42 pm

I think that if a ship is docking to a coaster harbor or a jetty there shouldn't be a message about it in the town, so there's at least some chance of sneaking a ship in. (and it's not always the 'bad guys' that might need to do this, either) I know the messages are to avoid surprise attacks, but if someone is worried about it all you have to do is lock the door.

'Bad guys' is an interpretation and an opinion, Marian! :D I mean, TBR aren't bad guys in some people's view!!!! :P :P

But yes I do agree with this, I mean, it's the town's problem if they don't see a massive ship approaching their land.

Can someone explain to me what those two sentences have to do with eachother? ;) The second one pretty much justifies the current situation.

I think he means it's the towns problem if no one bothers to look at the Location button now and then? You can see a ship coming from a long distance, if anyone actually bothers to pay attention. I always kind of saw those messages as making things easy for unorganized towns that probably deserve to get attacked anyway.

I like it.

First suggestion in quite a while that makes thievery and piracy easier than a whole lot harder. ... Not that I was ever a good pirate anyways.

Exactly what I meant, Marian.

I mean, it makes sense. You may be hoeing away at your potatoe garden and not look around behind you at the sea to see a couple of dinghys and a longboat docking with a skull as their flag.

If the message to someone approaching a harbour would only be seen inside the harbour, that would give a reason to set a guard in there - yay.

Which in itself is realistic, which is good.

Now that's a good idea...lock the door and put a guard in there with the key. For once they'd have a job other than standing around in the middle of town all the time.

But then the guards will miss out on all the juicy information and conversations happening outside...

therefore ...

Its just another reason to boost up the priority of windows and such!

So what, they're guards! Who says being in the army is supposed to be fun? It'd be a nice if there were a few downsides to being a guard, you already get a nice weapon, and keys, and get to play bash-the-n00b,, maybe having to take a shift in the boring coaster harbor would balance it out.

LMAO! Sooooo true....
I know that you believe you understand what you think I said, but I'm not sure you realize that what you heard is not what I meant.

I am so clever that sometimes I don't understand a single word of what I am saying.

Sorry but if anything more events taking place in Coaster Harbours (and Landing Stages) should be visible in the main town other than docking

I've moved this to Rejected Suggestions
