Missing attacks

Postby CrashBlizz » Wed May 03, 2006 12:56 am

What decides whether you miss when you attack someone?

Is it some random probabilty or has your/thier fighting skill, tiredness or something got to do with it?

I heard a rumor once that weapons have an accuracy to them, but you can miss with a bare fist ...

I know nothing for certain

also is it the same with shields being inaffective?

I've seen a tortoiseshell shield that was ineffective four times in a row and an expert fighter miss someone three times in a row. :?

GAH!!!

How can I stamp out this rumour once and for all?

THERE IS NO ACCURACY CURRENTLY IMPLEMENTED

Is that definite enough for eveyone? :P

And in answer to the original question... I believe there is a random chance, calculated each time a strike is made. This is the same each time... so it is in the hands of your Cantr luck.

Hence I am screwed

It might in some way be dependant on some skill of the attacker or defender, or some combination of skills, however, as Surly has said, there is nothing associated with individual weapons that determines this chance. As for the skills, we will need the comment of a member of the ProgD such as Chris to enlighten us.

The chance of missing is a constant value, the same value for every character. It is not altered by weapon attributes, skills, tiredness or strength of the attacker or the defender.

The chance of a defender failing to shield themselves is also a constant

There have been rumours that the chance of failure increases on Cantr days ending in 8 - these rumours are false and completely unsubstantiated.

And that is how myths and legends of Cantr arise.

Oh yeah? Then how come it seems to be increasingly hard to get a hit through on subsequent attacks than the first one? Good to know though...
