Repairing
Repairing an equipment should only deteriate if it is used on a project. Like for example, if you make a wooden shield with a hammer. Then after the hammer has been used it moves down the deteriation process. If you get hit with a weapon and you use your shield in defence. It should take a few blows before it starts to deteriate. If you have an equipment in your inventory you never use but will in the future, it will stay brand new until used. I dont know if anyone would like this idea but it is only a little change than what is done with repairing now.

Essentially everyone agrees that it would be better for degradation to be based on use. That's what was meant back when item degradation was the pet suggestion of several of the regulars on the forum and a favored idea for many more. Unfortunately it wasn't implemented that way, I believe because it would be a lot more complicated to code.
In other words, this is not a new complaint - read the old threads that came up when degradation was first added.
