Something disturbing about envelopes

Postby The Industriallist » Tue Nov 11, 2003 7:27 pm

I'm not sure exactly how this works, but when I sealed, then opened an envelope, it said the true name of the person who had sealled it(me). Now, this might be because my character knows his own full name, but I wondered: would someone else have seen my full name there, or their label for me?

Obviously, it should be their label for me, but I am suddenly afraid to seal any envelopes, since the character never has revealed his full name.

I guess it represents the chracters signature. It should possibly be changed to the dynamic name of this person. Also with the option of changing that dynamic name. It would sort of be like "if I have seen your signature I know your face". Maybe cantrites seal their envelops with self-portraits.

Oh, so it is like that?
So you would notice if someone has opened the envelope, read the notes, and then put it in a new envelope again?
That is great! :)

I like this idea
but now I can't check those letters I've been carrying
Somehow you strayed and lost your way,
and now there'll be no time to play,
no time for joy,
no time for friends
- not even time to make amends.
You are too naïve if you do believe life is innocent laughter and fun.

There is a way you can check and go undected.
I can't say more OOC but IC I will be more than happy too.
It may be a bug or feature gap or there on purpose.
I haven't had an occasion to do it.

Staff:
If there is a way to get away with this, can we use it?

Would it be inappropriate to ask that someone who has an envelope that someone else sealed to check and report what is written on the envelope? It would be... odd... to say IC "could someone seal an envelope and pass it to me, please?" But I need to know, so I will do that if I have to... with every character who cares, I guess. Although that almost seems like breaking the capital rule as much as finding out with one and knowing for all. :?

Yes, it looks like the lond sought after unforgable seal does exist. :D
Now it just needs to become forgeable with difficulty

this true-name thing is very useful...I"ve seen it used in ID cards so you know they're real...

One of my characters has an ID card envelop sealed by "God"

So, does that mean that it is sealed with the official name of the character? That is not good...what if your character doesn't use their official name at all?

Possibly...What would be interesting to know is if the seal on the envelope goes with the dynamic name at the time it's made or keeps changing every time you change names.

Only if you knew how to make Quii cosidering you have to go through Mr. Russell first and he knows who Mr. Quathak and will start saying how it is not a good idea to put more Quii into the economy.

Now I know why Mr. Russell has been asking Mr. Quathak about Quii creations. Interesting........

Ok. To be unsubtle about it, does anyone know what name is used on sealed envelopes? If the players department thinks this should be figured out IC, please post so.
