some kind of fixed object with an inscription which can be read like a note and a title would be nice for permanent memorials or people and events

I think that this is a good idea. It would just need stone, a chisel, and a hammer. The words inscribed would be up to the player that created it, much like naming a building. And if no one liked the statue anymore, they could team up and tear it down. And if a metal were used on it, it would be harder to destroy. Much better than our current system of statues: 1 gram of stone into a building project. While we're supposed to find uses for everything possible in-game, I don't see our current way as "complete."

Yep, I would like the discussion in the thread "buildings ablaze" to apply to almost everything: If we can create, why can't we destroy?
Different kinds of statue I hadn't thought of.
Also, I think it would be better to call it a "monument" rather than a statue as monument gives a wider scope that statue

Yes, I think monument is a better word. But do we need different kinds? Like big or small? Different shapes? I think there should be only one type. Since Cantr is text-driven, you could make different monuments just by adding a personalized description.
Example: Large Monument --click-> Description: A large ornate monument of a warrior with sword in hand, cast in stone. Inscription: "To those who lost their lives protecting the ideals of this fair town."

What about a short automatic description about the material and size?
eg: "This is a large monument made of stone"
I think it would be possible to use a chisel on metal. Many metals are soft. If you could get them out of the ground with your bare hands, you should certainly be able to sculpt them with a tool of wood and steel.
I think automatic descriptions might work. Be they wouldn't be personalized like monuments are today. And maybe you could make large, medium, and small monuments. The amount of resources and time needed with increase with the size. Should the shape be up to the player? It would seem rather boring to see square blocks of stone with words chipped into them all over the place.

I meant the auto descrip in addition to the player one. The auto one would be just to establish some vague info about size and material.
And most metals can't be dug out of the ground with your bare hands, but might be able to be carved with a chisel, but I'm sure there is another tool that does a similar thing, but better for the job. I can't rememner what it is though.

I think the auto description would be very minimal. Maybe '<player defined> (large stone monument)'
And in Cantr, all metals can be dug up with no tools.
Maybe in-game, a chisel could both make inscriptions on objects and chink some of the resource away. They can also already be used as weapons, don't forget.

You mean tools made out of metal to dig for metal? I think this is one thing in the game that should be left alone. And it's pretty balanced for tools versus no tools. Takes forever without one.
