Carriage Return when typing?

I don't know if this is possible in a chat type of context, but can you put a code into the chat line to start a new carriage return? For instance, if one of my characters read a poem, could I type in a code so that, when spoken, it comes out in lines instead of one long paragraph?

For example, if my character wanted to recite my favorite Shel Silverstein poem could I type it to look like this:

Teddy said it was a hat
So I put it on
Now Daddy's saying, "Where the heck's the toilet plunger gone?"

Also, is it possible to change the page where we 'whisper' to show more than one line? I understand space restrictions and all on the main Event page, but when you are speaking to just one person it would be nice to see more of what you have written than having to scroll back and forth. Just make that page show four or five lines of text. Some of my characters can get pretty windy.

Perhaps the shift+enter command would fit what you are looking for. But I agree that it would be nice to start new lines without having to speak twice.

I tried that when I had a character in a room by herself. I tried Alt+Enter, Shift+Enter, and Ctrl+Enter. Is there an HTML tag that I could try?

I don't think HTML works when a character is speaking anymore. In poetry, can't you use " / " to signify the start of a new line? That's how I was told to do it when quoting poetry in an essay. . . .

I would start a new line of speech - seems more natural to me when I think that I'm reading someone speaking
