Gathering suggestion

Postby Yo_Yo » Sat May 14, 2005 5:52 am

Well... I know this is going to get me yelled at, but hows about we change the percent done system?

What I mean is, hows about as we get the progress of a job done (example: Gathering carrots) we get bits of the finishes project. Something like "I'm 10% done with the carrot project, I have 40 grams of carrots in my inventory". This would help new characters as well as large projects that you complete even when your inventory is full (just pass some to someone as you go, then finish up).

I dunno. I always kinda thought this would be nice, but never got around to mentioning it. Plus it's make a bit more sense. You're not going to stack carrots in a pile till you get the project done, then eat. You're going to gather and eat as you go.

Now obviously you couldn't do this with the production of tools and whatnot. I'm thinking of this for pure resources only. And possibly refining of gas and possibly cooking.

I don't like that idea. If you want quick results start smaller projects, it's simple. I usually go either 8 hour or 4 hour projects with about 10 - 20 repeats depending on how long I think I will be in an area. Projects with repeats can usually always be ended quickly unless it is some rediculous amount.

I think it might be the intention to, at some point, change to a system where gathering doesn't work off fixed amount anymore, but you start and get the result as you go, and when you stop the project disapears.
