More tags!

Postby Nick » Fri Apr 29, 2005 8:29 pm

I'd like to see more tags ie: <CANTR CHARDESC>

Like maybe a health tag, that you can put on your soldiers so you can tell how healthy they are quickly.

Or the type of a boat or veichle would be useful.

I can't think of all the good possibilities for tags right now, but I'm sure other forumers will.

Both sound good to me.

A "What is this person doing right now" tag would be awfully nice.

<charhealth> : characters health in ##%, rounded to nearest percent.

<vehicletype> : displays the type of vehicle

<charactivity> : displays characters current activity and percent done

The above are just ideas from the previous posts. I like the idea of more tags, so you progD code jockeys get to work, k?

<charlastwake> : displays the date and hour (cantr time) the character last completed an action, for example spoke, dropped something, picked something up, dragged someone, completed the last repeat of a project, finished something. Good for weeding out sleepers.
Reality was never my strong point.

The "last awake" tag would probably be bad for server load. I like the others, though.

I usually keep a [<hunting skill>,<character attacking skill>] after each name.

E.g. a woman in her thirties [5,1]

Where <hunting skill> = 1 'awkward', to 5 'expert' and similarly for <character attacking skill>.

Both of these would be good if they were automated, perhaps returning a question mark if the skills are unknown.

That bad? Chardesc requires that the system retrieve a character's age and gender, while an assigned name requires that the system retreives the name. Would health, activity and vehicle be that much harder to get? Twice as much load, quite possibly, or maybe more (particularly activity, I suppose), but it doesn't seem to me that the difference would be that large. Perhaps I oversimplify.

I'd rule out health and activity not because of server load or intrinisc complexity but that they really are too dynamic and exploitable. We've moved away from being able to see these features when you are not in the same location as the person for those very reasons

Um, how about tags for walking speed and tiredness?
