Caffeine and tiredness

Postby formerly known as hf » Tue Dec 07, 2004 12:56 am

Ok - it seems that caffeine-based drinks have been programmed in (though I ain't never seen no tea in Cantr...) why not plant some tea and coffee plants around - and make those drinks tiredness-recovering?...

Remember the 'no new resources added to existing (populated) areas' idea? That's why no one has seen caffinated drinks, or herbs, or any such things. Well, that's why for the herbs for sure. I think it goes for the drinks too.

Yes, it's a damn right shame.

Can't Jos make an excuse...?

"A large strain of herb-creating airborn germanium was uncovered and sent around the world, causing large bushes to sprount and grow new things for the population to exploit"

Or

"A glowing light blinds all Cantarians, and a booming voice is heard "And on the 1050th day, let there be TEA LEAVES" and several tea-leaf growing plants appeared. The people praised their lord, Jos!"

Or

"I decided to add herbs to existing populated islands. I'm nice. Thank you"

I like the third one, personally :P - No question about his intentions, but HUFF.

Yeah, that could be interesting. I can't remember exactly what germanium looks like in pure form, but I do know it's a metal.

Geranium, maybe, 'Tony?

You know... germs... airborn disease... isn't it called germanium or something, in a plural-type-all-scientific-form...? No? Oh well, I try to be smart, never works out :(

Maybe there could be an explanation like "Gee, that whole "no adding resources" thing only makes sense if the game doesn't require you to get a new source of resources to do basic biological functions. Suddenly, since you now get tired, you now discover that these plants, which no one paid any attention to before, have an attribute that may help you!"

It's not that the resource wasn't there, it's just that no one knew it was useful until they had a use for it.

Once free walking is allowed then this won't be much of a problem as we can simply explain that such thing were never discovered because they were outside location areas.

I would be good if some things were added to existing areas - but only resources that are not used much - that don't have much use...

I think the addition of resources to populated areas can just throw the existing balance all skewy...

Like on k-isle - and the new material... I have character who would have really profited if she found anything like that on other islands she's heading off to explore

Yes, but many other players made a good argument that they should still be able to build the bows even after the change because those bows had already been built before the change and other discoverer made by K-Island characters.

I was joking, I know the argument, and in this case, it makes sense - adding the material actually keeps the balance, whereas not being able to make bows puts the younger characters at a disadvantage compared to the older ones who have bows...

But still... my character would have exploited the lack of that materials to the fullest... :)

would have had to compete with the 1 person already on the island you're heading to, who already had much the same idea ^_^
