Qapla'

reH QaQ *qantr'*!

There were several people who suggested a Klingonophone area last year. Is there still any interest among players to create such a thing? If there were several more players interested in a "tlhIngan yoS" I would be interested in joining up with them to campaign for such a thing!

Just a reminder of the conditions for creating a new language area:
- language must have enough vocabulary, mixtures with English are not allowed
- there must be at least 4 people willing to play in that area
- at least one person (could be one of the 4) must be willing to be the official translator for that language
- at least one person (could be one of the 4) must be willing to advertise for more players in that language

When you fulfill those conditions, send a mail to languages@cantr.net requesting that language area.

Wouldn't it need to be a real language, too? Plus, it's not like the characters there would be playing as Klingons; it's already been established that Cantrians are human.

Klingon is a "real language". The fact that it was created by one man for a TV series does not make it any "less a language" than ones which developed "naturally" over time (Like English).

Klingon has a well-defined grammar and a sizable vocabulary.

If people were offended by my suggestion, I apologize. The idea behind the suggestion was to create a venue for experimentation/practice in the Klingon Language for those interested in trying to use it in a RP environment. I never suggested actually RPing as Klingons (there are already many venues for that). I agree that Klingons (the fictional civilization) do not belong here.
