Using other metals to replace Iron?

Using other metal to replace Iron?

you know, swords can also be made with copper, tin or bronze, maybe there could be different types of each item and each is made with a different metal, with slight difference because iron is stronger.

I am quite surprised I haven't seen any copper shields/weapons.

Maybe you should read the earlier bronze topic. We have to wait for object detoriation, since I thing a copper sword does as much damage as a iron one, but it comes dull faster and is more likely to break.

Yeah after you smelt the tine and copper ore together to get a fine bronze metal and forge it into a weapon, its durability rapidly decreases. Iron and steel are made to last much longer then other weapons made of copper/bronze weapons.

Just put it on the new islands, so that we trade them iron they trade us plastic. kinda like a made in china sort of deal :)

Plasitcs could be made on the main land as well, we have coal and oil, the polymers from them can make plastics as can bioplastics made from plants. (Very expensive process so isn't used).

Alloys and different grades of current metals are in the works. A couple of small changes related to this were implemented recently.

Damascus steel would be nice to see, expecially when weapon deteriation comes in affect. would be very strong and powerful. (I myself have a broadsword made of damascus , its nice)

Edit: I know , someone soon will probably say just to write it all down and post everything I think of in the next month on one post

look back before about 55 and you'll find plenty of cars that had no plastic on them.they mostly used this funny clear and hard stuff called glass and another funny hard stuf called steel so the cars wouldn't fall apart if a passing bird farted on em

Different material weapons is in the work, for item deteroriation. No idea when that will be started and finished by Programming.

Plastic was planned for awhile, but got shoved over, since currently the resources needed to make BASIC plastic (Not industrial style. Remember, new things need to start out in their earlier stages before they can evolve into better and easier things) is not in the game (One of them being "Milk")

They also wieghed more than and drove like a tank
Now with plastic we can have 4cyl do the same thing as V8's used to.

But this doesn't create any actual need for plastic, anyway. There aren't many cantr-practical things that you could make with plastic, but not without it. (at least, not that I can think of).

And yeah, I don't think there are any useful, easy to make plastics.

Though Anthony, if we can distill propane from natural gas, how much more advanced is fractional distillation of coal tar and oil, which provides a lot of the materials needed for plastics?

Propane is only the "non-logical" way that it is, because Gas had no real purpose in the game. It's there for -nothing- and has been for a long time. As for the plastic, that's a different case. No form of plastic is in the game at all, so it needs to start out basic. It -could- be done with Coal Tar and Oil, however, what uses does Plastic have for Cantr anyway? If you can think of some uses, I'll go argue the case back in the Resources Forum, and see if everyone agrees on Plastics to be introduced.
