Renaming Building
Is it possible to have a buildings' name changed after it is build?
For example
The owner of a building died and the name of the building is now preventing it to be used properly again. Since the building was named after the persons or his business which no longer exists.
With a new name the building could be used again...

This was debated before, and it never was really resolved. It went from applying a sign to the front, to merely changing it. But of course, each has its flaws and its benifits (Obviously, the benifit being the buildings name has changed)
My own opinion, I like the Sign application. A stone or wood slab is made, then a chisel to carve out a name on it in a project (More uses for the chisel, too
), then applying the sign to the building is a project (Giving time for others to throw the person in jail if the sign ends up being applied to a building that doesn't belong to the person: Ie: mischief - Just like breaking a lock, sort of. Takes time so people can retaliate.)
But no one is certian if anything will ever be done

I agree with you on the sign suggestion.
But if I want a buildings' name to be changed now, I will have to wait till the debate ends, or an agreement is reached?

I think anthony was right...
making signs made of wood with the use of tools like a chisel or a screwdriver and hammer to carve the name in it. Perhaps only the person(s) with the key would be able to hang the sign up on their house.
Perhaps glass should be needed in houses so you could paint the name of the building on the glass. Prob a bad idea since making glass is somehwat difficult.

I don't believe it's possible to set a project as "Removeable" after some work or resources are put into it, unless it was removed manually. It's hard coded into all projects, so I believe. But I wouldn't exactly know.
Even if it could, that would be unfair. If you can remove a sign project, then what about lock picking? And machine using? People are eventually going to want those to follow the same rule. The domino effect.
You'll just have to have some law enforcement to stop people from working on projects such as those, that's all.

Names and signs
Where a few of my characters are this is a issue too.
Maybe when i building is made a 'title' could be placed in the creators inventory and if you are in the building holding the 'title' you could change the name.
Or have generic names and let people rename as we name other characters. You click on buildings and the can click the name of one to title it to the characters own knowledge of the name.

now, when you change a building's name, only you know the other name, no one else, someone new in town sees the building's original name when it was built even if all the town folks call the building something else... since we currently have no sign boards, i will suggest that someone who has stepped into town for the first time sees the building name according to what the majority sees it as...
for example... a building is named "x" when it was built, but it's name has now been changed to "y"... 10 out of 15 in the town have changed its name so they see it as "y".... now if a new person walks in, he should see the name of that building as "y" as the majority now calls it "y"...
can this be done...

Thanks for digging this up, Black Knight. I was thinking about it yesterday. Is there a tag equivalent to the <CANTR CHARDESC> tag for people. (It has been a while since I renamed a building, so I can't remember off the top of my head.)
With as many buildings as I have seen being renamed, it might be time for a building name reset. When people walk into a new town, it would be nice to see all buildings as cottage, mud hut, etc. and then the characters can ask the name of the building and name it accordingly.
What if we make signs work like clothes for buildings? You can make the sign, give it a "wear this" button while it is on the ground inside the building, and put it on. When you examine the building, the sign will show up just like clothing does on people. This would be a way to get pretty golden signs or cheap wooden ones to allow for RP flavor. It would also make it possible to change them out....or steal them.
