Comparing Cantr regions to rl regions

Postby SekoETC » Sat Aug 16, 2014 8:43 am

People shouldn't mention which resources are in which town, just general information.

- I used to think that Zhift region was like Africa with all the lions. I haven't been there in a long time, so the lions may have been hunted into extinction, unless they were reseeded. Then the coast has giraffes, so it also seems like a part of Africa.

- Aki island also gives me the Africa vibe, although at least one of the animals is South-American.

- Cantr island seems like Europe.

- Fu makes me think of the Mediterranean with all the olives. Then again it's a very wide area, so there are different regions there. Mammoths anyone?

I wish there were more dark-skinned characters because so many areas in Cantr are suggested to be warm, or at least were before the weather flattened everything into the same mold. It's sort of sad that it's snowing in areas that have tropical animals and plants. I think it would be better if some areas had perma-summer. Well, the deserts do but more than that. I guess most players are white and are uncomfortable playing people of color. People should still remember that since Cantr has never had color segregation, the color of someone's skin shouldn't affect their personality, so it's perfectly okay to have a character with darker skin who acts the same as your white characters. I think it would be more realistic to have more dark-skinned characters. A couple of times I've spawned a fair-skinned character in an environment I judged tropical, because I felt like they were out of place and lost. But it sort of gets flattened by the fact that the locations are filled with other fair skin characters who never get a sunburn. I think people should react to their environment. Either get a tan or get burned, or cover up with clothing.

Haven and Sanctum reminded me of Pacific islands - very heavy focus on boats, many fish in lots of places, lots of bird and frogs and other small animals, but not many larger ones.

If we're going by animals, could someone make sense of ostrich and elephant in the same location as kangaroos and also...moose! The only reasoning I can figure is the magical, but-at-times-completely-baffling, 'Cantr logic'

If I remember correctly, there was once an entry for a tyrannosaurus-rex on the wiki. Try explaining that one in the midst of ostrich and elephant!

That would just be cool, though

But one of my characters would never step outside again if they saw a T-Rex!

I had to kill an animal "Balrog of Morgoth" when I was cleaning up Cantr test environment about a year ago. :(

But why offtopic?

Polish Islands - Europe (unfortunately it's "North Europe" that has crocodiles)
English Islands - North America
Fu - Africa

I'd say Aki is Australia, with everything trying to kill you

I always get a Scandinavia feeling from the Klojt/Doryiskom region. Once you get to Akypor and the other cities on the north-western corner you're somewhere near Denmark and Germany.

There's characters in game that believe in the Kraken. I look forward to participating a bit more one day.

Back on the main topic I've always viewed Fu as Africa. Raj (Durcas) Whatever it goes by as Australia.

Agree on Treefeather as North America and Cantr Island as the depths of Hell. lol I've mentioned before how much I hate that island.

Aki is very Australia-like. Haven always seemed Pacific, although the forest on Mystic Isle is kind of weird. Pok Desert seems kinda like the Gobi. Mountains of Treefeather are Alp-like. Haven't seen much of Cantr. Fu is like SE Asia, kind of.

I play/ed several black/darkskinned chars. Nobody cares. (yay)

Burgeo seems pretty Africa-like to me. Like, sub-Saharan, where all the jungles are or something. I mean, lions and elephants! And gorillas! And rhinos!
