Stone Dice

Postby Crosshair » Thu Jul 01, 2010 7:31 pm

I dunno, it just makes sense to be able to carve stone dice.

The only problem with dice is, how can someone carve a dice where all sides are rolled equally? Even during medieval times the King's of European countries couldn't get a dice that rolled completely equally.

But equally how can a man with no engineering experience build a fully functional car? It's all a bit of suspension of disbelief that's pretty common in Cantr. We can already make wooden dice, why not stone ones?

That's hardly relevant to the discussion, since dice already exist, and this problem would apply to them as well.

That was kind of my point, although I digressed.

Stone isn't as easy to carve as wood for one. Maybe a ivory die.

Ivory die already exists.

I am also guessing that during medieval times, people weren't manufacturing cars and vans, nor were they curing their wounds by eating onions. I am also assuming they could hit people more than once a day....*shrugs*

My point is that Cantr in no way mirrors 'reality' and therefore the idea of stone dice would be a good one. To appease the 'realists' though, I would suggest making them take longer to make than the other varieties.

As for the tools, they should require a chisel and a hammer at least.
