Did you possibly click the project button on some machine, then backspace'd and clicked the coin press?

Try it in a day or two and see... Clicking the back button IG also tends to send messages. Same thing as what Wiro said just accomplished differently.

Sounds pretty weird, but if it hasn't been fixed yet, what if the project existed in another location? I noticed that coin presses don't say "in use" when a project exists for them, so if the project wasn't in the same room, there would be no way to notice one exists short of looking in the database.

I don't think I remember seeing it on the support mailing list. Could you pm me with the name of the room/building in which the coin presses are located and where that room/building is?

There's a ticket started. It's called "coin press problem." 6th down from the top.

I did a preliminary check a while ago, but I can't access the room because of a special character issue screwing up the search. The location Id of the press is 25689.

Thanks. Regular machines have the project id listed in the specifics field but since coin presses have the name there, that might explain why coin presses don't say when they're in use.

There are 8 coin presses in there and two of them had value 0 in typeid while the others had 1. At first I thought that would mean 0 is in use and 1 is not in use, since two coin presses were reported as dysfunctional, but then I looked at the status of coin presses in locations that have a project for producing coins, and all those have 1 in the typeid field, so it looks like 1 means in use and 0 means not in use. That means that there are 9 coin presses with the wrong status. Although if 8 of them are in shapukas's location, that only leaves one elsewhere.

Can you fix it so it doesn't happen again?

I'm not sure what caused it. There might also be other machines that are stuck appearing in use when there's no project attached to them. For example if you delete a sabotage project that involves a machine, the machine will still appear in use unless the code takes that into account.

Maybe it was just a regular project someone tried to cancel do to error in calculations...

If you normally click the cancel button on the projects page, that frees up the machine. I suspect that the browser back button has been used in some point.
