As the subject of my post... suggests. I would like to ask about an in game translator. Can I have a little box that I can open in a small pop up window that can translate text to and from?
This would encourage players to be less inclined to straight up ignore other language players/characers. It would be up to the player to decide how he uses it and it would still stick with the same 3 year set up of learning the other language.
I would love one for some situations and I would only use words that were given to me by the other characters but this way I could eventually be fluent in the language without being fluent. Doesn't cripple my char in learning the language because I'm crippled in learning/knowing it.
Also it would allow players to play in a language they are slowly learning, need to learn for something else, or just wan't to learn. Instead of being all fish out of water with seeing a bunch of words you don't understand. You could use the translator and have a little bit less of a disadvantage.
As a monolingule player I find that a translator would help emencelly mainly because I would love to play in a diffrent language other than english, especially if the english zones die.
If this has been suggested before and I'm sure it has I'm sorry. I look through 1000 posts and didn't see anything. But there are closer to 10kk posts total that could have been relevent. Again sorry if it is a duplicate suggestion.
On a personal note I would like to learn Finnish and Polish because they look and sound very interesting to me and Spanish because of where I live it would be a great help.

I don't think this would work. First of all, automated translations are often quite horrible, people might use slang or different dialects instead of formal language (at least on the Finnish region) so translations would be so garbled that the meaning would be lost. Secondly, characters are mostly not supposed to understand what other characters are saying. Even if translations were only meant for the convenience of players and their characters were supposed to remain clueless, I bet many people wouldn't get it and it would lead into loads of CRBs. Foreigners can talk about stuff like killing people because they know no one understands them, and if some player would understand them either through a translation or skill learned irl, their character would still have to act like they didn't understand anything.
One thing that might be considered would be hardcoded emotes that could be attached to speech, like smiles, frowns, laughs and so forth. Then people wouldn't have to translate emotes. But auto translation for speech would be a disaster.

This would help and not CRB and so forth. I like it!
My main issue is I would like to interact wih the other language groups easier. Being monolinguel it's REALLY hard as it is right now.
