Damascus Steel
I didn't see this so I am going to suggest it. Damascus steel is supposed to be an elite steel used in the old times it is rare and not many recipies are left. It was believed to be able to cut through normal steel because it was so strong and sharp. It would bring that new rare resource that could be extremely hard to make, but could have grater damage. Right now I havn't figured out how they could make it but it could probably be found on wikipedia or something. Feedback would be appriciated.

There have been other suggestions about improved steel. If any of them is going to go anywhere it would be the stainless steel suggestions (we have chromium after all), but there has not really been a pressing need to move in that direction yet. Perhaps when we get ready to roll out a new technology level.

Well, maybe this could be split into two things
1. A stronger, heavier steel. It requires more to make, but does not decay as fast, and repairs faster.
2. A lighter, weaker steel. It is lighter ythen normal steel, but decays slightly faster, doe snot repair as fast, but uses less materials.
So we could have the normal steel, a lighter steel, and a heavier steel, which could all replace each other.
What do people think?

When you hope for something, you often believe in something. When you believe in something, you often have pride in it. Being proud often leads to a hating of some group.

Instead of better quality steel i prefer variation in the quality of items (swords made by an expert could be more durable or do a little more damage, tools could be a little more efficient, etc.).
If you want a new generation of materials don't come up with a better version of something that already exists. Come up with something really new, like concrete for multi-story-buildings, gunpowder for (ranged?) weapons, or rocket fuel for airplanes.
Steel II looks obsolete to me.

It wouldn't be higher quality, or lower quality, I guess maybe it does. It would have a cheap steel, the normal steel and the expensive steel. I think it would make it easier on Aki Island to make the less expensive steel, and it would be rewarding to those who have very large supplies of the materials. They could use those supplies faster, and get a higher quality steel.

Problem: to make a slower rotting rate steel, it's necessary to create new projects and objects for ALL tools and machines that uses steel. It'll be a huge work, for almost nothing.
If a new kind of metal is gonna be created, it must be used to make new machines, new tools, new weapons, new buildings, or it will add almost nothing to the game.
Just think if steel was just a slow-rotting iron, or aluminium just a cheaper/lighter steel.
Steel objects already rots in a low rate, it doens't need a better one.
