Inscriptions on everything?

Postby Meh » Thu Jul 24, 2003 6:48 am

If coins can be pressed with an inscription then why not everything and not just buildings...

Did we cover this already?

That would be good. I would like to name my sword or my tool.

Wrong forum area, but yeah I'd love to be able to inscribe whatever I wanted. What about other people? or bodies to put a warning on them like "This man was executed for theft, don't be next"

It would be nice to be able to put a name on tools and weapons, not only to identify it's owner but also to identify the maker. It would take but a simple stone hammer and chisel. Put the chisel to use for something also.

That would be more like branding someone with an iron, which would be nice also. Then instead of killing or locking up petty theives we could just brand them, and the brand show up in the char description for that char no matter where they go or what name they try to give people. Then they can be recognized as a criminal no matter where they go.

Tattoos....:) Or Branding..
This could also lead to odd other things in game..*imagines*

Slaves....lol Theyd be marked for life...until someone could come up with a way to cover the scar-marking up. ~.~ cover the tattoo up by being scarred over by being slit with a sword..o.O lol

I read a book once that had the main character cut up his tattoo because he quit the group it designated. Forget the title though...

Anyway, tattoos seem like a good idea. Maybe after scars though. You could make a scar as an initiation into a group. Then use healing foods to fix yourself back up.

Or hide it entirely with clothing.

Branding things

Postby jeslange » Mon Jul 28, 2003 1:42 am

It would be cool if the keyholder of a building or vehicle could change the name of it.
It would also be neat to brand criminals. It could take three people like dragging. When someone walks into a town, you would see "a man in his 20's has entered (town)...with the brand "thief". The brand would also take three people to remove, which likely wouldn't happen unless his peers saw that he was reformed, or unless he wanted to pay alot for it from people who have a brand-removal business. This could open up black market services too : )
Branding your kids
Branding in groups/clans, etc.
Branding objects..."touch this and I'll chop you up", "reward if found and returned to...", "given to the honorable (name) for heroic srevices to the town of (town name), etc., etc., etc.,
There's so much we could do with branding. Let's keep the idea up.

I would like to be able to put my mark on a note so it couldn't be forged.
