Animals...more info or something

Postby Missy » Tue Jul 22, 2003 6:20 am

However Much I like this new Animal idea you all have impletmented..I don't find it very fair or realisitc at all.
I was attacked umpteen times today TODAY alone..and died. I was at full health before this happened. HOW are 6 cobras going to kill a person in a single day? 6 of them? SIX of the freakin things! I don't think its working well. (I'm not really bitter about losing the character) But I am bitter that I didn't even have a chance to defend myself.

These are random attacks correct? Well I have a question. If there are 6 people in a town or suburb etc. no shields or building for shelter. What are the chances of more than 3 people escaping the wrath of 6 cobras? Maybe even less than six of them.
How is the strength the animals take away from a character when they attack determined? A bite is usually something humans recover from. Something like a bare fist in my opinion right?
Yeah i suppose a scorpian could take away twenty percent thats assuming it is venomous. But I wonder if it had been a rabbit and it came into town (6 of them rather) Shouldn't I have servived then? How do I know when animals even come into town. I didn't see them there. And I clicked on all of the buttons at the top of the screen and did not see them. HOW in the hell do i even KNOW when there is one there? MUCH LESS how can i hit one? ....

Hi Missy,

I think this will answer one of your questions. If there are animals on a location, you can see them by clicking Locations and then the animal icon. From there, you can interact with them (For now, that just means hitting them).

it's because its using a very basic probability to work out whether they attack. At the moment the chance of an attack is always possible, perhaps if there was a chance that an animal did something, then you checked to see what it was (like move or attack) it would reduce the number of random attacks?

I thought the animals only attacked if provoked... Apparently the rabid raccoons are rampaging around... Only cuz someone mentioned , "what is that thing?"

Racoons do rampage. I live down the street from a 1500 acre park. They get espically agressive right after trash night {food upply gone}. If they stay somewhere for more that three days, say a garage, it belongs to them and they'll defend it and come back to it unless moved far enough away {that they pick someelse's garage}. Espically in the spring and early summer if their kids are still with them. They run off the cats too.

Possums however are pretty mellow.

Speaking of cats, it would be interesting to have mice, screws, and small birds. The wouldn't attack just remove small bits of food laying around.

Then have a cat to hunt the things. If the cat can't find mice it gets hungry and starts to yowl. If you don't feed it, you'll be overrun with vermin.

Rats on the other hand are about as bad as the racoons and the closer to frseh water you are the bigger they get.

as for the corbra's lol be lucky it was killed in real life youd be poisoned and die a slow and horrid death. so i guess getting bitten by six was a luck break for your guy. hey could have been worse...

Racoons I can maybe understand, though I doubt they travel in such large packs. ::grin::

It's the freak sheep attacks in Drojf that have me worried.

Faster, sheep! KILL! KILL!
Like the beat beat beat of the tom-tom
When the jungle shadows fall
Like the tick tick tock of the stately clock
As it stands against the wall...

Well all I know is when I saw
You see 224 racoons arriving in Olipifirovash (north), coming from Olipifirovash Road to Olipifirovash.
I knew our civilized but unarmed town was in for a very rough few days of death and suffering.

Well, I think there should be more info on the animals listed. Instead of "6 raccoons" maybe list them individually with some sort of health indicator like the people have. Right now we have no idea which one of the 6 we are attacking, or how much of an effect the attack had.

Given the chance I would go after the weakest first, well maybe not. Does the strength of their attacks go down the weaker thay are like with people? Something else we have no way of knowing.

Would be kinda hard to have a health meter on each one when you have over 5000 of them lol

Is this the thread for when the animal attacks were implemented? lol
Anyhoo. I was thinking there could be an "eye" Icon beside animals that would give a brief dispription of what the animals look like... Or else in the world of cantr. anything can look like anything really. I mean for all we know, a Cantr deer may look like an Earth turtle...
