Re: Thought or Rant of the day!!!
For the past two days, I haven't been able to get over the fact how my grapefruit hand soap makes my hands smell like new Band-Aids.
Edit: Sorry, I lied. It's not grapefruit, it's cherry blossom. But still!

When people tell me that great minds think alike, all I can do is look at them and think "oh you dirty, dirty bastard"

I love rats, thanks to three or four of my college friends! Sorry about yours, Miirk.
Thought of the day: Today I discovered that holding a cat, playing Cantr, and eating a pomegranate at the same time is too difficult.
Rant of the day: No!!!!!!!!!!!! Greg bought tickets for us to the Red Hot Chili Peppers concert in May, but today I found out one of the guys broke his foot and the concert is being rescheduled for October 25. The problem is that we will be in DC for our honeymoon that week. First world problem.

Washington DC and, yeah, we'll be choosing the honeymoon.
At least there's the whole "waiting until the concert is completely sold out and reselling our tickets for double" thing.

Hmm interesting place to take a honey moon . I wouldn't think of DC as a romantic spot..

I would. I proposed to my wife there, in front of the Hope Diamond at the Museum of Natural History.
Nice thing about DC is that pert' near everything is free ('cept the parking, hotels, and eating), since we the taxpayers already have paid for it.

And we've got an interesting conception of romantic. He proposed to me during San Diego ComicCon. Of course, we were on the beach underneath a full moon and stars. I guess that's sort of romantic.

Re: Thought or Rant of the day!!!
The subway system in DC is phenomenal and progressive - fares are based on raw distance, so you can move short distances inexpensively (at least it was 15 years ago). You don't want to drive down town, because parking is a bitch. If you have parking where you're staying, then I suppose that's not a problem (if you're staying in-town). Also, downtown DC has no nightlife. Once the museums close, it gets creepy fast. It's like downtown Phily - it shuts down at 7pm when all the workers go home. So, just do your research and know where you're going. I don't recommend "winging it" in DC.

Re: Thought or Rant of the day!!!
Good to know. I suspect we will want to be back at the hotel before dark anyway. But definitely planning things out for each day and knowing which transit routes to take is a good idea. We're both too laidback to have thought of doing that ourselves.
Oh, and when you say that DC is creepy in the way that Philly is at night, do you mean that there will be a chance I'll have a gun pulled on me like the last time I was in Philly or just that it empties out quick? These things are good to know too.

Research meals also. There's not many obvious places to eat outside of the museums. They keep things looking pretty, so they hide everything garish (like, signs for restaurants). And don't take short-cuts when walking. The neighborhood turns bad quickly (I know - we took a short-cut in college and wound up with a bunch of gang-bangers in a low rider yell to my friend that she looked like a big banana because she was wearing a yellow coat).
All that said, I really enjoy DC. Before I moved to Philly, I had been in DC at least 3X as much. It's beautiful. Just stay on the beaten path.
I think you'll have a great time!

It's kind of post-apocolyptic creepy, in that there's no one around 20 mins after the museums close. The only ones left are the homeless and other seedy types that were always there before but you never noticed them in the crowds. The residential neighborhoods are downright dangerous, but you have no reason to go there (unless you're trying to shortcut, which, again, I don't recommend).
