Speaking of birthdays.... I can't remember anything about my birthdays between 12 and 18 years old. (Or actually now that I think about it, I used to have a tradition of inviting my best friend for a sleepover and we watched StarWars at night.)
But I remember what I was thinking when I turned 11 ("This must be the most boring day in my life, I hate being 11." My best friend couldn't come to my birthday party and everything was so wrong.), I remember what I was wearing when I turned 10 (a pink dress and my hair was curled and on ponytails, it looks all silly in the pictures), I remember the cake when I turned 5 (though my parents insist it must've been 4 because when I turned 5 I was terribly sick so I probably wouldn't have been eating cake. *shrugs* Anyway it had chocolate buttons and bright red icing, maybe used to write something but I didn't know how to read.)
When turning 19, I invited my old best friend and my new boyfriend-just-a-friend, soon to become a boyfriend-in the-serious-meaning, later to become my ex. I think I called her the last moment and she was playing mad that I hadn't given her enough time to think about a good present. Anyway we watched Lord of the rings 1 and then we watched the document extras (it's the extended DVD) and surprisingly the document had ended while I had to pay a quick visit to the bathroom. None of them still admits clicking stop. The cake had mint chocolate candy on top and afterwards when I was cleaning up I noticed my friend had picked them out on the side of her plate though... I think she used to like those when we were younger.
And at 20 my parents woke me up far too early and I got breakfast in bed and... I don't even remember what the present was.
