If about half the people who apply for a new account either log in once and never come back after that, or never actually even log in (I think it fills in the lastdate by default even if the person never logged in) it might be useful to have an option that would allow people to see inside the game without having to make an account, so they could see what it's like. There could be invisible characters in decent-sized towns, particularly interesting ones, although anybody in town could choose to take the town off the list while they were present if they thought there was something going on that shouldn't be visible to just anybody.

I don't think I'm going to do more statistics on this computer because I'd have to calculate which Cantr date corresponds to those numbers and it would be a pain in the butt without being able to copypaste from the calculator.

I like this idea if there would be a good way to avoid people making a bunch of invisible characters for CRBish reasons, like having a staff only town for invisible characters to see. :)

I think that has some potential for abuse. It would be easier to put up some transcripts from the past, with real-time stamps beside the Cantr times to show that it's a slow-paced game.

What percentage of all locations on Cantr exist per terrain type?

Ex:
Grassland: 14%
Mountains: 21%
Forest: 16%
Hills: 9%
Swamp: 1%
etc.

You don't need to be this accurate. Today is 3304. So...

2574-2939
2209-2573
1844-2208
1479-1843
1114-1478
749-1113
384-748
19-383
1-18

2940 and after that: 4342, 422 active
2574-2939: 7893, 117 active
2209-2573: 10246, 82 active
1844-2208: 12589, 82 active
1479-1843: 10254, 95
1114-1478: 396, 57
749-1113: 96, 25
384-748: 24, 8
19-383: 10, 3
1-18: 3, 2

Mind you, active is just what they are marked as in the database and doesn't take into account if somebody has 7k+ days of vacation left.

Had to delete a graph here because somebody thinks it's sensitive information.

Again, most English spawns within 20 days. Looks like Dom Hofran is using steroids.

Code: Select all

Dom Hofran...........31
San D'Oria...........15
Scarab Haunt.........12
Klojt................11
Shai.................11
Blerk hills..........10
Seatown Garden.......10
Doryiskom.............8
Pok...................7
Plaekur Forest West...6

I can't believe I'm entertaining the idea of learning Polish just for cantr.

Not really, I think it's just how the spawning algorithm goes. Dom Hofran is on Polish island, far away from any other English-speaking areas, and as far as I know it doesn't have a spawn-point 'competition' anywhere nearby. I'm not sure if there's any other town like that.

The attractiveness of a town is solely based on its population and isn't affected by the population or language of surrounding towns.

Doesn't the algorithm try to put a newspawn away from all the other characters anymore?

Isn't a player's first character a special case — he/she can spawn only in a relatively large town? Maybe some of Dom Hofran's competition fell below the threshold for being included in the first-spawn lottery.

The first two characters on an account have an increased chance of spawning in large towns, but can also spawn in small towns, the chance is just lower for that. And yeah, it tries to put characters away from existing ones but I assume there are always plenty of locations that qualify.

Percentage of incomplete buildings with "sin" or "pleasure" in the title as a ratio vs complete ones with it in the title, and also as a percentage of total uncompleted buildings.

No entrepreneur fails more frequently to the sleeping sickness in cantr than one trying to open something along these lines, I'm convinced.

Sort of fitting, if that's the case. Getting paid for one sin, only to succumb to another.
