*frowns and speaks to no one in particular* It would seem you missed the opportunity I'd provided you with. And now with my strength so declined, I doubt I could provide it again. *shakes his head, weak flames sputtering to trail behind his movements* And now with me so reduced, what purpose have you who draw on the life forces of my presence to kill me off? *sighs* Oh, that you would have finished me then. At least that way it could have been glorious.

The Snow Goon took 74 energy from Nakranoth and Bowser combined (3 from Fiery Shield + 25% rounded up to 4). Snow Goon defended for 70, so it takes 4 damage. The damage is simultaneous from both attacks, meaning Bowser causes 2 damage, drawing 1 energy from the attack through Vampire Bite.

(OOC: The snoon goon should have attacked Quasar with 70 strength because Quasar's shield attacked the goon last round. A goon divides his attack the next round against any hero that attacks it, not does damage.)

(OOC: Does a defensive mechanism count as an attack for purposes of "attacking something"? After all, the snow goon power is designed to deflect attacks to it...)

MOD question: Is it not true that Quasar used his fiery shield attack on Round 2? Is it not also true then that it would have hit the snow goon? Is it not also true then that the snow goon would have attacked Quasar this past round?

Also, the snow goon would have been hit with two fiery blasts this round, because one was redirected and one hit normally. Is this not true?

(OOC: deadboy, I didn't help you with Quasar because you and the snow goon's attacks alone were enough to destroy him. I'm confused by the fact that the mod did not have the snow goon attack.

From the letter of the rules, the snow goon's attack and defense is not voluntary. It defends until it is attacked. Then it spends all of its energy attacking the hero(es) that attacked it in a previous round. Quasar's attack from round 2 should have drawn the goon's ire, leaving it defenseless.

Still waiting on the Mod's response to this before I start planning for the next round.)

Your power attacks people based on your defense. Therefore, your defense is a global attack.

MOD CORRECTION

This is correct, my apologies. The fiery shield attack from round 2 on the snow goon, and its consequences, slipped my attention.

I'll do the recalcs, but unfortunately I'm still quite strapped for Internet time due to OOC issues. It may be another day or two before the exact recount and results are posted.

But the upshot, I believe, will be that Quasar will die, the Snow Goon will die, and Bowser will gain 35 life from his attack. Don't hold me to that just now but I think that will be the result. Neuman would still not take damage from Fiery Shield in Round Three since his redirection would be simultaneous with all other actions (i.e., the Snow Goon dying from another attack, but still "alive" during the round for redirection purposes).

Sorry for the confusion and for the continued delay...

ROUND THREE CORRECTION

By now the entire group is on edge, knowing that AOLA the Mercuriate will come out of nowhere to shiv one of them before they even have time to zip up and turn around. AS usual, she does not disappoint. Swivelling neatly to her left, she irises her third dimension and slips neatly into a microcrease in the space-time continuum. The entire chamber slows to a crawl, save for her, and even the light takes on a flat, spread out quality. A bead of perspiration trickling down her forehead is the only sign of the effort these time shifts cost her, but no matter -- everyone else is too slow to see it anyway. With a kick and a flick of the wrist, she caroms leisurely off the wall and in the direction of THE ICE DEMON, who floats head down a short distance away. She clenches her right fist, gathering energies around it in a crackling storm, and delivers a swift uppercut to the Demon's jaw, snapping his head back and causing two of his teeth to richochet off a nearby cube.

With a jarring snap AOLA shifts back into normal space-time. She keeps her wits about her and deftly fends off an incoming attack from QUASAR, despite being almost blinded by the radiance from his Fiery Shield. QUASAR chuckles as he turns up the heat in the chamber. THE CORINTHIAN, immune to the effects of QUASAR's radiance due to his stylishly Cool Shades, comes to AOLA's defense as he unleashes a bolt of energy at QUASAR.

THE ICE DEMON, using his last shred of conscious thought, deflects QUASAR's fire to his SNOW GOON sidekick, saving at least that minimal additional damage. THE SNOW GOON, meanwhile, is mindlessly focused on QUASAR, the only mutant in the room to have attacked it thus far -- with a primal roar, it thrusts its claws into QUASAR's midsection and rends him in two, quenching his fiery heat and freezing his blood even as the severed sections of his bodies fly to separate parts of the room.

THE VAMPIRE, sensing an opportunity, sinks his fangs into the GOON's back. Using his own suprahuman strength, his jaws snap together like steel hammers, crushing the GOON's chest cavity. THE VAMPIRE drinks deeply of the emergent energy, swelling his power.

Meanwhile, far on the other side of the chamber, THE SPIRIT continues to practice the contortions and defensive maneuvers best suited to its current phsyical form. Unperturbed, and to some extent even oblivious to the others' actions, it spins in place, flowing from one position to the next with near perfect fluidity, providing an odd and eerie counterpoint to the frenzied thrust and counterthrust playing out among the others.

ALLOCATION CORRECTION FOR ROUND TWO:
Snow Goon One (allocation change):

70 attack against Nakranoth

CURRENT ENERGY LEVELS:

deadboy: 79 Energy
AoM: 60 Energy
Bowser: 120 Energy (see below)
FormerlyHF: 50 Energy
Neuman: 20 Energy

KILLED IN ACTION:

Nakranoth (reduced to -51) and Snow Goon One (reduced to -7)

COMMENTS:

The Snow Goon took 77 energy from Nakranoth and Bowser combined (3 from Fiery Shield directly, 3 from Fiery Shield + 25% rounded up to 4 redirected from Neuman, 70 from Bowser). For the puposes of Vampire Bite, Bowser can only draw as much energy as the Snow Goon has -- in other words, Bowser doesn't draw energy once the Snow Goon drops below 0. Since the damage from all sources is proportionally simultaneous, Bowser caused 90.9% (70 divided by 77) of the damage needed to bring the Goon to zero; this equates to 63.6 points of damage, rounded up to 64, so Bowser gains 32 life from his Vampire Bite attack.

I hope this squares things with where they should be at this point. Sorry again for the mix-up.

I've got a 100 attack against Bowser, vampiric bite, and 46 defence. It's nothing personal Bowser, its just that if we're going to be allies we need to be somewhere near each other in strength, you're getting far too strong

The silent figure begins to speak

You would have done well to listen to us...
We recognised the threat of the vampiric one previously...

The luminescence around the figure glows brighter momentarily

Now would be the time to remove this threat.
Whoever you vote for.

The government wins.

Yeah, alright then, I'll admit, you're right *He gives a cheeky grin* This'll be the only time I'm wrong though, I promise you that. So then, looks like we're all up for giving Bowser a weakening this round. Still not sure we really need to "-remove-" him though, seems a bit extreme, he -did- help me out at the beginning...

Just because I am not hurt does not mean I am a threat. I have yet to damage anyone except a defenseless snow creature. Think about what heros have died and exactly who was the one to extinguish there flame?

We have been forced to fight, however, I have chosen to survive and not destroy my fellow man... no matter how different we may be.

And another thing, I am no vampire. I enjoy the sun, I detest bats, and I am far from eternal.... I just like my steaks rare and juicy. I haven't decided what I am going to do this round yet.

ROUND FOUR RESOLUTION

THE CORINTHIAN coolly snaps his shades into place.

“That’s a neat trick, Bloodsucker. Maybe I’ll try it on you, see how you like it.”

THE VAMPIRE turns and bares his fangs, only to be blindsided by AOLA the Mercuriate’s supradimensional attack. Her boson wave field burns swiftly through his defenses, melting the upper part of his left shoulder like so much hot wax. With a cry of mingled pain and fury, he hurls himself at THE CORINTHIAN, probing the latter’s defenses with a million nanoscopic thrusts of antimatter energy. He manages to penetrate and draw forth a bit of energy, his shoulder healing itself quickly.

Unfortunately for him, THE CORINTHIAN also draws this antimatter energy into himself, containing it, reweaving it, shaping it, ultimately turning it back on his attacker. His shades blaze, and the hunter becomes the hunted. THE VAMPIRE recoils as his own power reserve is punctured repeatedly and viciously by life-sapping nano-needles, and THE CORINTHIAN draws huge amounts of his strength away.

Meanwhile, THE SPIRIT continues to spin in place, ever-shifting and ever-watchful. THE ICE DEMON, unmolested and unaccounted for, creates a newer, smaller SNOW GOON to aid him in future scrums.

As everyone takes stock of the carnage, a warning klaxon sounds three times. Suddenly the obstacles in the room begin moving in every direction at once, at varying speeds – ricocheting and caroming off the rounded walls to create a swirling storm of objects. Cursing, the mutants dodge and maneuver their way around the projectiles, already plotting their next moves.
