This is painful to think about. I did get a black eye once from running into a metal pole.

I've been punched in the area directly below the sternum, the area I want to call the solarplex, but I'm not sure that's right. :? Anyways, it was a little kid, who landed it perfectly, and even though it wasn't that hard of a punch, it was enough to knock the wind out of me. That was especially painful.

And then there was the time I was on my scooter on my neighbour's driveway (it's on a steep hill across from our driveway). At the time, our driveway was directly across from it and the surface of the driveway was about two inches above the surface of the road. I rode down his hill, missed my cue to step over the edge of my driveway, and fell forward. Like an idiot, I stuck my hands out in front of me to break my fall. Needless to say, it was a very painful few hours afterwards, followed by several still-but-not-as-painful days. It hurt to grasp doorknobs. It pains me just thinking about it now.

Do you mean that your scooter ran over your hands?

Random thought because it just happened: I sometimes still get suddenly confused when I can't feel my tongue stud, even though I took it out years ago. Also, there are definitely still holes in the top and bottom of my tongue and I wish someone had a needle or something so I could see if the hole goes all the way through.

I think she landed hard and jarred her arms, but I want to hear the blindfold, walking into a pole story. Was it a trust game? :(

I'm still chuckling at Doug and his knowledge of hair styles. I know where to go for advice!

It wasn't blindfolded. I was in an informal watergun fight against a friend of mine outside someone else's house, and they had a mobile basketball pole in their front yard. I was facing behind me at my friend while running (see signature, I can run pretty fast). I must have turned my head forward right as I ran into the pole, which may have been instinct caused by tripping over the bottom part of it. Black eyes are painful. :(
I also got a black eye from not having a seatbelt on while in the middle seat in a van with no seat in front of me.
edit: sorry for the confusion

She got it right. I just wasn't sure how to word it. Yes, I jarred my arms.

Yes, it was a trust game. I was blindfolded, then led around the school on a predetermined course (of which I had no prior knowledge) by the voice of another person, my partner. We made it to a ramp going down, and my right hand found the railing, so my partner was like, "Oh, okay. Just follow the railing." Like an idiot, I did just that, without using my hand or anything else to make sure I wasn't about to hit the wall. Lo and behold, I walked at full speed into the brick wall and busted my nose. The ramp veered left, which was why I didn't feel it by rail (both of my hands, idiotically of me, were slightly behind me). Anyways, my partner started freaking out, saying "Oh my gosh, I am so sorry! Are you okay?" And he escorted me to a water fountain where I could wash my face. (I couldn't see because it was really bright outside, and in contrast with the darkness that preceded it, it hurt to look at anything.) We ended up finishing last (because of the bloody nose and face thing). Afterwards it was my turn to lead him around blindfolded, and he kept telling me that I had every right to have him run into a wall. I told him no, that I'd already forgiven him, and I didn't make him run into a wall. We laughed about it later on Facebook.

RotD:
It was sooooo cold at the game last night. My hands lost feeling and turned purple I'm not sure how many times, especially after my glove got wet somehow. My feet were numb, too.

They're expecting it to be even colder today. We have to march today. And then stay afterwards to play Ultimate Frisbee and flag football with three other schools. I'm not too happy about staying for the mere fact that it is cold. But the good news is I found my gloves from last year!

So much for trust!!

I actually had a similar wrist-hurting story to your scooter story. In college, I jumped onto the hood of a friends car (teenagers are stupid and impulsive), lying prone. He decided to drive it (slowly, prob 5 MPH). Surprised, I (purposely) rolled off the hood, off to the side, so he wouldn't run me over. I forgot my Newtonian physics, however, and forgot that I would still have forward momentum when I landed on the ground, so basically sprained my wrist.

(I also broke my foot once while watching television....)

Ooh, that reminds me..I accidently caught a television with my head once. I think I was trying to set it up or something, probably on a fail desk-like surface.

When I was heavily pregnant (about 8,5 months) a 4-5 year old boy ran straight into me. He bumped into my bump, literally! :D I was so off balance I almost landed on my bum. I couldn't catch the boy as I staggered back and was caught (luckily) by my friend, but no such joy for the boy. He fell and got so scared, his mum even more so, looking at me with shocked eyes to see if I was okay (after checking first that the little one was fine). I was trying to laugh it off and to catch my breath at the same time, as well as dealing with a few huge kicks from a disgruntled, unborn baby. :D

No, actually, I was sitting on the floor, cross-legged, and my foot fell asleep. When I stood up, I hadn't realized I was putting my weight on the side of my foot instead of standing flat on my feet, and got a hairline fracture of the cuboid bone (a small bone in the side of the foot). Luckily, at the time I was working for a company that made and maintained computer systems for doctor's offices, and one of our clients that I had a very long and friendly relationship with was an orthopedic practice. So after they treated me, they wrote off whatever the insurance didn't cover. :D (Obviously, I could have cooked the books myself, were I an unethical kind of person, but I wouldn't have).

The boyfriend is back at work after an injury had him out on workman's comp for a pretty long time and I'm finding it difficult to adjust to not having him around all the time. On the one hand, it's nice to sleep alone because he's a terrible bed-hog, but on the other, I'm bored. I'm sitting here resisting the urge to run into his room, poke him until he wakes up, and demand that he play with me. I'd even be willing to watch a movie and I usually can't sit still for those.

So yesterday we had our competition/festival thing. After we'd marched and loaded the trailers and everything, our band director was like, "Okay, guys... the easy part's over. Now the stressful part begins."
By this, he wasn't meaning the anticipation of the ratings (we got superiors in Music 1, Music 2, Marching & Maneuvering, General Effect, and Percussion, and an excellent in Auxiliary (colour guard, props, et cetera)), but rather....the flag football game that was to take place between our schools' band kids after all of the other bands had left.

It was actually quite amusing. There were two games going simultaneously, with the sidelines as end zones and a large space around the fifty yard-line. Each band put together a "cheerleading squad". Needless to say, I was drafted. So we made fun of our school's cheers, and then they started playing music from the press box and we all started dancing and doing random stunts. During halftime we all did the Cupid Shuffle (or whatever it's called). And then after halftime we held a singing competition in which I did not participate as a contestant because I suck at singing and dancing. It was amusing. And then the games ended and we had to go home. The other school won the "varsity" and we tied for "JV". The band director was not happy -- "It shouldn't've even been questionable. It should've been COMPLETE and TOTAL DOMINATION."

No, but my rant of the day is....

IT WAS SO COLD AND DRY AND WINDY YESTERDAY. Everything hurts. My back and shoulders hurt from dancing and stuff yesterday during the football game. No, I don't normally do that stuff--if I hadn't've been drafted into the "cheerleaders", I'd've been shivering in the stands with a quarter of the band.
But most prominently....my face hurts. Particularly my mouth. It's completely dehydrated, and not even the globs of Carmex I've used (not all at once, of course...) has helped. I'm also wind- and slightly sunburnt.
And then I have school in the morning. Hooray.

Edit: Congratulations, Joshuamonkey, for the promotion you apparently just now earned. :)

Thanks. I'm going to have to get used to my username being red. And this particular promotion is going to be my thought (and already has been) for more than just the day.
