What kind of value judgement are you placing on this type of role-play? What is to be deemed "lame and uninteresting," and how are you to judge who is "influential" or not?
I'm a player who has kidnapped someone off a lonely beach, and it led to one of the most interesting role-play experiences in my year and a half in Cantr. That experience is still feeding the creative endeavors of a group of characters as we speak.
As far as "influential," that value judgement really depends on the individual player and their game, and not a collective whole. Not everyone cares what happens to so-and-so character or large town. I, myself, tend to avoid the better known ones, which tend to come off as so much background noise as I play.
