Good point. I never even thought of that.

I was actually considering giving one of my characters a rose allergy (based off my dad, who's even allergic to the oils as well as the pollen- he can't even have tea with rosehips without getting sick)

But none of my characters have been exposed to roses yet, so it hasn't come up. (Ironically one of my OTHER characters has a fascination with roses. Yellow ones, specifically.)

I've seen several allergies rp'ed. Some food allergies, limestone, allergy to some metals and had a char with pollen allergy. Maybe allergies are not so in fashion as mutes, but I've encountered several in my four years of playing.

I hope I run into more, it's nice to see the diversity in any character quirks, but allergies provide a good basis for RP when they come up, a town has to keep a certain material away from the person or make sure they don't have to work around it, etc. or the initial finding-out your allergic to something creates a scene of confusion when a character's friends have to figure out what's wrong with them, it's a nice plot twist.

I also noticed another interesting quirk in a newspawn but since it was only like two days ago I can't say what it is yet, but it's something I think greatly lends to the RP if the character keeps being active and consistent, another thing I've found very rare (I think I've only seen it once and it was not a quirk that began at spawning), it's one of those disabilities that I'm sure are going to be very hard for the character to deal with but so far has brought an interesting twist, and I'd like to see where they go with it because I personally don't think I could play this specific quirk so if they keep up the character I'll be impressed.

I was reading old posts..yes, I'm bored and reading to kill time...and came across this. I had a character in Cape Kerena for quite a while, a long time ago, so am familiar with the Cha character who lived there. She was a child character, not Jamaican, but more importantly..she died? I didn't know that because she was still alive when my character moved away from there. What happened to her?

I think I saw her alive not long ago in the other side of the island. She wasn't awake but I think I recognized the character description.

Oh! I forgot about that pfft, yes I can. Unfortunately, she only stayed a few days and then left, even though my character tried to interact with her a lot and be friends, I guess she was bored =( so I don't get to see how she progresses for now, unless another of mine meets her. But the newspawn in question spawned without arms, both her arms end a little above the elbows. She was really stoic about it and didn't care, and was doing pretty well doing everything with her feet, even eating, it was really interesting, like when the town guard gave her a shield and wasn't sure how to hand it to her, so he strapped it on her back for her, and had to put her dress on for her. I wish she hadn't left, darn it =P maybe I'll be lucky and see her again somewhere else, I really hope she doesn't give up on the character, 'cause I've only seen an amputee one time in Cantr in the 3 1/2 years I've been playing, but he had cut his own leg off, if the weird story he told was true O__o and ate it.. because he was starving.. ahem... now there's an interesting quirk, that scared the bejeezus out of my character XD

It's hard not to be consistent about not having arms.

It really is so awesome =D

And yeah, I meant just, I hope they don't give up 'cause it's too hard, I don't think I could play an amputee very well or I would get frustrated. But this is also a perfect example of a character who doesn't fit the "media perfect" descriptions, forget about curves in right places and all that junk, this person spawned with one of the biggest imperfections one can think of, it's very refreshing and inspiring and I'm impressed they're even attempting something like that.

My character met her on the road and was just as casual about it. They had a nice conversation about her plans to get arms (what materials to use and what she wanted to do with those arms), and talked about how the girl could ride a bike.

It was definitely interesting.

That's awesome =D I had considered that too when I saw her, that maybe someday she could fashion prosthetics and learn to use them, that's cool.

I think I have encountered this character as well and watched another interact with her. She wanted potatoes and he talked her into trying to dig for them. She wrapped her little stub around the shaft of the tool at the top and used her foot on the bottom. It was interesting.

Aww that's great, and it's good to see people are encouraging her, like I have a blind character and she's encouraged to do things herself most of the time instead of being helped all the time and it gives a lot of confidence. And that reminds me when I was a P.E. volunteer in my middle school, for the kids at the elementary school like ten years back, this little girl had one arm but her right arm stopped at her elbow, and she wanted to play this baseball-kickball game with the other kids, so she held the bottom of the bat with her one hand and used her stub arm on the upper part of the bat for swinging power, and it worked really well and she was so happy being able to play with everyone, it warmed my heart and I almost cried, she was only six years old =)
