Amen to that...
Erm...how do you compare intense one-to-one stuff anyway? Ahh...that's what you mean by beyond "compare" ?
Serious;y though, I've got a character in Zuzi right now and, of course -nothing's happening (apart from her own intense one-to-one; or mostly one-to two stuff, actually, with her two fellow-travellers, or spouses, should i say.). It's kinda disappointing to wind up in such a legendary place and have no clue about what's going on.
I can see that some things can't be r-p-ed in public, either for IC reasons, or it's just too pornographic. But it would really nice for the rest of us, if more was showing up showing on the surface. I've said it before: I also think it would be great if some of the besat "intimate" stuff could be posted here. I got a chorus of "not in front of the kiddies " of course ; but, hey, maybe I'm naive but I was assuming that most of it is publishable- eg, emotionally intimate, or just private. rather than simply unsuitablle for young audiences. Am I wrong?

No, "beyond compare" means "Gee! Wow!"

You should know by now I'm not a big fan of this thread--and perhaps I should have kept my mouth shut. But the whole point I was trying to make was how much careful crafting and effort went into private moments that are precisely not intended for publication here.
I'm one who does not believe that Cantr is all about getting mentions in a roleplay thread. Hence my taking my hat off to Zmambee.

I don't think there's much disagreement between us on that issue, if any. I couldn't help being thrilled (not to mention stunned) when a couple of my characters got a mention here, but I certainly wasn't trying to show-off my r-p skills (which I'm still far from certain I actually possess ) It's clear that a minority of players are very competitive about r-p-ing, but I think that's really is just a small minority. The rest of just want to share our delight in the really enjoyable r-p experiences we have, and encourage the people we enjoy r-p ing with. What I like about this thread is that people usually attemt to explain what was so good about those experiences(and I see publishing fragments of dialogue as a logical extension of that ), whereas in the R-P competion threads, people usually just publish a score.I don't see any point in just publlishing a score. Surely all that achieves is to gratify somebody's ego?
I think you're unduly cynical about peoples motivations here. Just because somebody gets a mention, it doesn't mean that's what they're after. I suspect that the people most worthy of mention are simply enjoying the game. Hell, what if I wanted to recommend a good book? Would you see that indulging in unwholesome competion? Of course you wouldn't. But most of the posts in this thread are in just the same spirit, as far as I can see.

Upton "Sheepsbane"! You just have to like that guy! What a fanatic.
I always thought whoever played him was a great RPer, I just like the way he talks.

Man, I wish there was a way you could still view the events page for a little while after your char died. Even if it was just like, 24 hours as a "ghost", it would be great to see people's reactions...

I remember when Loki was a newspawn. He can't be older than his very early fourties (yes, I'm using the cantr spelling)
Last I saw Loki he was in his sixties... if he has discovered the secret to reverse aging though, I'd be most interested in hearing it.
Oh yes, praise for Loki. And pulling up conversations from two days ago. (That's not too long, right?)

There's only one Loki in Seatown Lakeside and he's mid 60's. Some other Loki stopped by briefly and gave him a hand for a while, but he didn't have the outrageous accent, nor the longevity. He died in his 30's, MAX.
I'm sure he'd appreciate hearing all the praise as well, I'll pass your kind words on to him the next time I see him.
