Prime example.

My char left K.F. a bit ago, would be very interested *pauses* in 4 days from now, to learn what happened on the forums. All I can guess is that Nobert and Alex finally hit their temper points.

Geh.... that place drives me insane. The problem is that people just come for iron and then leave. Everyone there is new and so no one knows the real history and they'll believe whatever their told...

Well with soo many people there, there's no doubt that with centric spawning, there's gonna be a lotta new people. Why else would people have gone to Karnon Forest, My character was on that island for 5 years before they touched Iron, its a commodity, but a useful one.

I hate it, though, when people spawn and immediatly head to the nearest iron source...as if they know instinctively what iron is good for. when I spawned IRL i had no idea...i had to be told.

Here people just wander around, magically knowing what all the resources are and how to make iron from hematite even if they've never seen it.

It's aggravating.

Oh, that place is fu**ing brill.. oh it is great, i love it there.

The Collective? What is the collective, the collective is nothing.. TBR, now there is something, it is interesting how people of TBR flaunt there 'Power' but is that just a front? Do they actaully have the power, it seems then when Rick comes back there is going to be long ass essay type speeches and a lot of dragging, stabbing, arguing, i'm guessing you get the point.

and the History of KF that |West| done was brilliant ( You should write books ) i just want to know how you know all of that, unless you have read notes, other wise i'd like to know who you are...

West prefers to remain anonymous, but a lot of that info was learned IC for him, some of it OOC. My character could fill in some details, of course, because as you notice, its a tad bias. So you can guess at least what side he is on by his account of history. Its a study called historyography, actually.

Aye.

So we've heard.

Yeah, it's a tad biased. But hey. All history is.

You can fill in your details if you want; that was just a cursory overview.

Well West's guy has been in Karnon Forest longer than mine, so I will leave his part untouched. I can give you a history of the Tribe, however.

Alexander Mason was born/spawned in Kirinn. Kaidan, the local elder, proposed a new type of government, a tribal system. The people would join tribes, there was a set of tribal laws, among other things. Mason formed Tribe Blackrock, which was to wander the island in a seemingly hopeless effort to find the black rock, "iron". Rafaela Cervantes formed Tribe Cervantes, and the two of them merged shortly after. When we arrived in Kirinn Soufields, an early version of dust's map was on the ground, with no person in sight. Knowing not of other civilisations, Mason took it as a sign that the gods wanted to lead him to Karnon Forest to protect the "world's" source of iron.

Upon arriving in Karnon Forest, the Tribe was informed by the government that reigned there under Ace Grant (HvyThg, Austin, Rick), that they were not allowed to dig iron. The Tribe fought against that ruling, and eventually convinced Rick to declare independance from Karnon, whereupon a Forest Council was formed, consisting of Mason, Rick, HvyThg, Norbert (TBR member, at the time), and Aeiolet Jean (sp?).

Rafaela, who's original vision for the Tribe was to be a nomadic people, was furious that Norbert and I decided to take permanent residence in the Forest. She and several other members left us, calling themselves Tribe Cervantes (now known as the Nation of Mobilia)

Things went smoothly until the arrival of Keldorn Firecam, and his employees. Firecam Inc. wanted to disobey the laws of the government, specifically no steel making. Mobilia also protested these laws, as well as many other new arrivals. We locked up Keldorn in the Citizens Quarters for a while, and discussed what we would do with him. We then let him out, after which he turned around and locked us all up as well. When he let us out, Alex was a changed man. He lacked all anger, all charisma that he once had. He resigned from the council, as he believed nobody wanted a government, so it was pointless. The rest of the council followed, and the Forest was governmentless. Alex then vowed to protect the thinning numbers of the animals, whom he considers gifts from the gods.

Most of the former council members joined a new group, called the Collective. Alex was offered to join, but he declined, devoting his life to his tribesmen. He started to begin his interest in new technologies, making for the first time leather, and steel.

The rest will come at a date where the information is no longer relevant to the current events. Tell me what you think of this history.

I'd like to clarify that the Tribe was only one of many factors leading to the independence of Karnon Forest, but a valuable one.

Most of the governmental laws at the time of Firecam were pretty logical; no steel production yet, no buildings to which the councili didn't have a spare key, 20% voluntary iron tax. Much laxer than most places that had iron.

The steel rule and iron tax were meant to be temporary, until the Council had enough iron/steel to ensure they'd be powerful enough to be able to keep the forest free.

But many newcomers to the Forest, who hadn't known what life was like under the Empire, didn't like any regulations at all.

One thing I forgot to mention earlier is that just before Keldorn came around, Aeris had her spree, and many of the first citizens of the Free State (that had voted for the council) were killed. So the newcomers (no newspawns yet) were under the impression that the council had appointed themselves, which was obviously not the case.

Yes, I forgot about Aeris... almost
Aeris killed Peter Kilm, another member of TBR (and the now defunct Forest Guard, as well).
His grave is marked with a daisy... which only one person has ever had the balls to pick up  But he dropped it, quite fast, once he found out who wanted it on the ground.

Oh, people have tried to take it fairly frequently, as I recall. Sometimes the daisy just disappears, too. But we always make sure it's back.

Peter was a good man.

Actually, Peter Kilm just dropped dead one day. Aeris killed 12 in Karnon Forest but no one with an iron shield could be harmed then. Incidently, 7 of those deaths occured because Alex refused to hand off the key while he slept.

Was Alex really offered membership to the Collective? I find that hard to believe.

And I think Alex has since gained back all that anger and charisma. No worries.

think you're letting your IC influence your OOC there, Kroner

He was asleep, dude. chill out.

but yeah : Pete just died one day. it's usually easier to say that Aeris killed him than to try to figure out what really happened.

You forget htat your char once liked Alex.
