Almost exactly what I've been thinking. Things really feel like they've been changing. Even if it was probably inevitable...younger characters are played by people invested enough in the game that they've made newspawns relatively recently. Really old chars in--not all! I've seen exceptions!--but many cases, are 'played' by people that have no further interest in them but can't let them go and so keep them sitting collecting dust on a shelf. Even the average age for leaders seems like it's gone way down. Leaders in their thirties, forties, fifties seem really common, while in almost every town I've seen the oldest people, in their seventies and eighties on up are just standing there like statues.

I think people are finally en mass that it's far easier to just go around or over these people than to wait patiently around playing by their rules and getting nowhere.

Hear, hear, you two!

Sort of related...I'm not going to lie, I get a big goofy smile on my face every time some leader or representative publicly makes an idiot of themselves. Or has a perfect opportunity to prove their town/organization/whatever is competent and helpful and flubs it completely.

Really I guess really this goes for any character that talks a big talk but is unable to deliver when it matters. But there are so many big old towns and governments or leaders who talk like they think they're still meaningful or deserving of respect until an actual situation develops and it becomes blatantly clear what a charade it's been all along.

It's certainly an interesting time in this game. However, it's not the first time that new players have come in and shaken things up. A lot of the characters you see now in their fifties and sixties were the younglings a year ago that shook things up. It happens in a society simulator, and I for one look forward to seeing what new culture comes to the game via the current newspawns.

Yes, that whole event was hilarious for so many reasons. On a related note, I love it when people act like they're really badass on the radio while doing absolutely nothing to back it up. Especially those people who are like GRRR IF I MEET YOU I'LL FUCK YOU UP and then, naturally, fail to say where they are in case someone wants to put that theory to the test. Yes, Mr. Anonymous Growler, I'm super afraid now. If you actually did anything, you wouldn't need to make threats, right? What are you even trying to accomplish?

It's the inter-internet tough guy. So meta. So wow.

I just picture this Hulk Hogan fellow saying this stuff, then just gently dozing while picking daisies.

The radio back and forth is just more trolling, I'm sure, but at least it's taking a much more entertaining form than it ever has before.

What I was referring to was a couple of very public incidents my chars have heard of in the past couple years, and yes, there's a more recent one too. It may really be that it's becoming a trend. :P So many people just want to talk big and coast along on a crumbling reputation they had nothing to do with earning and can't hope to back up, and more and more it's becoming obvious how there's nothing there but hot air.

Glad to see populations seem to be picking up. Starting to travel some with my older characters and seeing towns that had long been deserted with new life. :) For the longest time there were so many towns that I kepts saying boy this would be a nice town to settle down in glad people are starting to do that.

I will say that I had a character resettle an abandoned town about a year back with a few of his friends. It's slowly getting larger. It's somewhat out-of-the-way but in a location with an amazingly good resource mix. It's been fun to have us play a little "pioneer town" mentality. I've also had the pleasure of having my travelers run into those types of towns, and it's always fun.

It's such a small thing, but the skill list on this character always make me so happy. :) For where they are, and what they do, it's just so perfect. I'd have swapped out fishing for shipbuilding, but otherwise they couldn't have gotten a better set if I'd picked it myself.

way down at the bottom on the other side :(

It's okay though they don't need to hit anyone, smart people delegate these kinds of things.

That character must have buried a LOT of bodies.
I think ...
