The spawn location is correct for all characters spawned since 660 . Spawning location was not recorded before day 661

This is linked to the change in the spawning process, yes? When it changed from spawn locations to the new spawning system. I know this, as I had a character spawn in a place with no food straight after, and his spawn date is just after then...

For the chars where no spawn locations are recorded... they also cannot alter it now. Is this intentional or a bug thrown up by the fact they have no recorded spawn place? Even if it is not locked to the actual location... could we have it

Since I know where my pre-660 character was born, I was hoping there was some way to replace "unknown place" .... It doesn't matter though if it's too difficult.

It's intentional. Current naming system allows to assign a name only to a particular location. If no location given, no name can not be assigned.
Your characters are just too old to remember
