Yes, please do.

Note that sexuality as sort of an either/or switch (gay or straight) is very much a modern concept; for most of human history people were just people, and engaged in a variety of sexual behaviours without being labelled for them (well, except such labels as "pederast" but that's a deserved one in my opinion)

And "gay" and "lesbian" are the same thing; the only difference is the person's sex.

And furthermore one can be straight without being "straight as a ruler"; I am straight but hardly "as a ruler."

And Coramon, you forgot "hetero-flexible", "bi-curious", "ambisexual" and legions of other sexual-liberation buzzwords.

I give this poll a 2/10.

Actually, untrue West. The Greek and later Romans came up with the concepts of Gay, Lesbian, bisexual, orgies and incest. All of them were very common practices in those societies on the noble and middle class level. But when Rome fell and the northern Europeans took power these ideas were frowned on by Western Civilization.

wow! sorry (not really) but i am a communications major (blame us for political correctness perhaps :? ) but there are so many things wrong with this poll and wrong with the comments posted i don't know where to begin....

many have made good points :) this isn't the sort of thing that should be a poll because it isn't the sort of thing that can be so bluntly quantified. and language doesn't have the words to categorize all the lifestyles out there, at least not the english language alone :?

it could be a great discussion, but there shouldn't be any clearly defined categories, because in reality, there aren't.

and (i beleive it was coramon's) remark about not having hit puberty yet....wayy wrong there buddy! sounds like your the one who hasn't hit puberty yet!

i would have to call myself bi-curious currently ;)

Dude, really now all this little middle-line stuff, is in the 'not sure' part. Bi-curious is a BS term for, "I'm Bi, but I don't want anybody mad at me." And as for trannies. Who needs 'em. They go in the gay category. They are having sex w/ other people of thier actual sex... therefore bumbumbum 'GAY/LESBIAN'! OMGOMGOMG!

Ehmmm... sooo completely wrong on that one... Most transvestites actually prefer the opposite sex, they just like wearing their clothes too... it makes them feel good... :P So they go around having sex with the opposite sex not the same sex. :P Yeesh, watch some Eddie Izzard, would you? :P

Besides, some women wear 'mannish' clothing, why can't some men wear 'womanish' clothing? I mean, skirt, pants, make-up, no make-up, does it really matter? You don't call a woman in overalls, no make-up and short hair a transvestite.

Very true. I am very much straight, but even I enjoy toying with people's sensibilities. Here is a picture of me and some friends preparing to go to the yearly showing of "The Rocky Horror Picture Show" on my campus.

I am the one with a beard, the second one from the left. This picture is about a year old now, so my hair and beard it totally different now (and my beard is much fuller, that picture was just as I started to grow it out). It is strange getting cat calls from guys in passing cars though.

Ehm, Wikipedia disagrees with you.
Wikipedia wrote:Someone who is bi-curious has a sexual orientation, behavior, or self-identification, which is close to but not quite entirely heterosexual or homosexual. There are several different conventional meanings of this term, some of which are mutually exclusive.

Which is close to what I thought, basically that "bi-curious" is short for "25% gay". ;)
