Hmmm...I actually meant to ask- are there instances of this happening to boats which haven't been docked onto other boats?
I know it doesn't always happen (and I was wondering if it makes a difference whether you undock whilst still travelling or unbdock later, after you've stopped). Of course this might be a total red herriing, but I can't help thinking there's a clue in there somewhere.
I'm thinking along these lines...if you undock from a stationary position , it would make sense for the programme to return you to your last docking location...normally. So maybe that's what it does, forgetting that you might have been in an enrtirely didfferent stationary locatio, last time you docked.

It finally happened to me. My boat undocked from a coaster harbor and was warped to the location which was the first place it ever docked after leaving it's building place.
Since it was at this location it has docked in one other town and then back to its homeport then to the latest dock on another island.
So it goes like this:
Built at home port =>
Town A =>
Town B =>
back to home port =>
Town C (on different island) =>
A break in the space/time continuum causes it to apear just offshore of Town A.
This boat has never been docked to another boat nor has it had a boat docked onto it.
I will attempt to flyspray this.
