no, I feel this way a LOT, and I put so much effort into my RP, only to be ignored because people prioritize personal conversations/plans/kissing and cuddling/ etc. over even an event that should rouse people from what they're doing. I have no qualms about cutting off my character's private conversation to deal with someone getting hurt or someone needing an important question answered really quick, or a direction pointed out, you know? Because that's what people do. But in cantr it's like "someone is asking where someone else is and I know where they are because we've been out here whispering for days and saw them go, but let's just keep whispering about how much we love each other and ignore them and make them figure it out themselves." It just seems a bit ridiculous sometimes, and it's discouraging, and sometimes it makes you feel like people are judging your RP and that's why they ignore you, which is not a good feeling when you're trying your hardest..

Thats too bad, myself as a victim of that I try to be not a one doing that.. Damn timezones though makes hard because all happens then I am sleeping :P Well atleast I try to be polite to all, expecially as all newspawns tend to quickly decide to stay or not and... ignoring them is no go

Cliques and self centred/arrogant people are just part of life. You should try getting basic courtesy here in the UK... it's a joke. Here you put -everyone- out, all the time...
(Okay, I may be exaggerating a bit... but you get the gist.)

It is shit though, I have people in public roles that go out of their way to help others, and I have a couple that are that engrossed in their partners that they hardly speak to anyone else. I guess it is luck of the draw.

Though I admit that there is a small handful of players that only seem to have one kind of character, and a few of those are of the self centred/arrogant variety.

Just be loud and make yourself heard, it seems to work most of the time. :D

The only one of my characters who has recognised that ignored newspawns specifically tend to fall asleep has communication issues (this was precisely the opposite of what I intended for him when he spawned, but he evolved, perhaps even as a result of the cliquishness of the town he lives in) which make it hard for him to do anything about it. Doesn't help that for a while most of the newspawns in that place were mute, it made for very no-sided conversations.

I have to agree with Otherside - as one of those players with many different characters, my characters all have very different levels of social interaction, mostly evolved from those around them. Some are arrogant, some are mellow. Some are extroverted, some are introverted. Some are very self-absorbed, while others are massive gossips and busybodies. It really just depends on the character. I don't try to specifically ignore anyone, though some characters simply want to RP things that are not in my character's interests - and those I will typically ignore after a while of trying to convince them they're barking up the wrong tree.

The only time I'll ignore someone when I'm in a private conversation is if I've RPed moving away...like to the outskirts of town or someodd. But even then, if they RP a raised voice, yelling, or say my characters name I will respond. Actually, I'm liking the possibility on breezy days to RP the sound carrying on the wind to me :D

Added my own thoughts about it before on here. It's just hard to break your way into a town's established social circles, and when you're still stuck outside them.... often times that means getting ignored. :(
But, I can understand why and how the ignoring happens. I know I don't always have the inclination to respond to things that are posted, even by characters important to mine! So traveler or newspawn would come second, if and when I do post.

I'm also confused on roads and telescopes. Do they help you see people farther down the road, or is it just the map view?

I thought they were mostly just useful for sea travel.

I have started feeling this recently, but only in one location. Repeatedly getting ignored. My character is falling apart at the seems in the middle of town, and no one really seems to care or even notice. Even when she wasn't, she would get ignored for the most part. It's infuriating, that other characters can't take a couple of seconds out of their day to ask, "Hey, are you alright? Oh shit, you look unwell!"
Like seriously. In reality, no one waits for a sick person to fall over near dead before doing anything, or for a chronically depressed person to suddenly try hanging themselves before they even notice that person isn't in the best place.

Sure, I'm trying to do it subtly, because the character isn't the type to be open or out there. But I get the feeling even if she did something drastic like suddenly stab herself, no one would react, or act like she was fine all this time and has suddenly gone crazy. -.-

I have a feeling I may know who this is. If so, there is probably more happening with others involved, under the surface. But she may be too blindly absorbed to see it.

Or, if I'm wrong... Then good luck.

She knows other stuff is happening, but she's too lost to care about the matters of others, especially when she's barely even there herself. If I say any more about why she wouldn't be aware of any of it, it would give her away. Plus this was happening before everyone else's drama unfolded, but it was much the same. I'm not sure if we're talking about the same character though. She's not absorbed to the point that she doesn't try to speak to others at least a little.

Anyways, thanks, I need the luck.

Sometimes I purposely ignore chronically depressed friends in real life... Or, don't ask when I know something is up, and deflect all hints to get me involved.

But, I can be an asshole, so.

Edit : Feel like I should add that I do it when I've got too much of my own shit going on and know I cant get fully invested, so just stay away from it.

I think we are... and what Rebma said. My character has already been an asshole to her.

I'm pretty sure it's just the place too. There is no other place like it.. (Thank f&$k.)
