We could put a disclaimer on the confirm spawning page that you can test your strength and fighting skill by dragging yourself, and that punching yourself without some sort of rp involved looks retarded.

oh...I was just stating the reason I've had charries hit themselves upon spawning. LOL

They always say a few things first though...XD Or I rp it in there somewhere...like.....*they look surprised as if trying to slap themselves awake* Or some such nonsense...

Anyways...it IS helpful when trying to write your physical description. :P

I wouldn't make it say retarded but a bit more new player friendly just to let them know its not a good start or something like that.

This would be nice, imo. I didn't know about the dragging or, as I said...I would have been doing that all along.

I don't really mind it if its done that way. Spawning and hitting yourself and then rping or saying something annoys me a lot.

If they cancel because of bad stats, the slot should be blocked at least twice as long. Just saying....

Some of my chars see that as odd, but not enough to be irritated by it (it does annoy me as the player). Then again a lot of my chars punch themselves because they've no one else to spar with so they shouldn't complain about other self-hitters.

I always have my char drag themself to see their skill.

I believe the thread was changed also to post in what annoys you as a player. My char was also not happy with that as he finds it rude if someone does something like that first before introducing.

Nope retraded is fine in my opinion.

Before I knew you could drag yourself to find strength I'd just wait till nobody was around, go into a public building or I was on the road and then slap myself to find out.

Key word, 'slap', why hit yourself with more than 0% - you could hurt yourself..

Not so likely with a bare fist or a bone knife. :)

You will hurt yourself as a char with your fist or a bone knife.

How's this?

"It is strongly recommended that you do not make your character punch or slap him or herself in order to find out his or her fighting skill, since in most cases the character has no in-game reason to hurt themselves and it seems like a completely OOC action. If you can't wait for a legitimate fighting or dragging situation to come up to discover your character's skills naturally, you can have the character drag him or herself to reveal the skills to yourself discreetly."

It might also be worthwhile to mention about the slot blocking.

"You should also be aware that characters who die under the age of 25 will block a character slot for 40 days or until the day the character would've turned 25. This is to discourage people from killing off characters who spawn with undesired skills or in an undesired environment. "

Whatever, I think Arenti gets annoyed by this because he is so anti fighting. He has nothing but ultra warm and fuzzy hippy characters.
I have had characters slap themselves, but I never did it first thing, it's always days later, when I am bored out of my mind with the place my newspawn was spawned at. I will drag from now on though.

Yeah right lol. I take it you never met certain chars of mine in game? True I don't play evil chars because I can't. But that doesn't mean my chars don't kill. Enough bad guys to kill.

What I do believe in is that killing is a last possibility in a bad situation and not the first. Again not all my chars think that.

Oh and this Sev turns out to be a suicidal char just as I thought.
