Polish is a fascinating language and I want to learn it. But the language learning app I put on my phone doesn't have it as an option. Even though it recently updated to include Klingon (among other, human languages that it didn't have before).

I want this app.

It's called "Duolingo". I know for certain that it's an Android app and you can get it off the Google Play store, because that's what I got and the kind of phone I have. I don't know if there's an iPhone or Windows phone equivalent, or if you can get it anywhere else, because I haven't looked.


EDIT: Or at least, it claims to have added Klingon in an update. I'm not seeing it yet, but I may need to update it manually. Will report back with info whether it does or does not really have Klingon.

EDIT 2: Okay, it doesn't actually have Klingon yet but apparently the Duolingo app is now doing a thing where people can create language courses for it and Klingon is one of the ones that's being worked on. I am disappointed that it's not actually there yet but pleased that it's being worked on.

I HAVE THIS APP I've been learning French and German on it and I've been waiting for it to finish Polish as well. And now Klingon? 8D

I have Duolingo bookmarked, and Memrise as well, but I don't really use them that much. I've been trying to learn Norwegian on Memrise.

Anyway just came here to shake my fist angrily about how my addiction to catching up on Homestuck trumped my addiction to Cantr and caused me to accidentally miss a project tick during a situation where it kind of has the potential to turn into a life or death situation!

Why does the universe seem to not want me to watch the excitement at work tonight? Big boss shows up to reprimand a worker and wouldn't you know it that's when I finally get a call to work? So bogus! Lol.

I just watched an episode of the X-files that suggested past lives and key "players" coming together in different combinations during different lives. It made me think of Cantr. In an optimal situation, people could play with others they get along with and like, and it wouldn't be a disaster to die because you know you could be family in the next life.

People already do. Clustering of player's characters together is a naturally occurring phenomenon. People are drawn to certain character styles. If you look at the characters all of yours associate with, the odds are most of them are played by the same people.

But the difference is, people are afraid to die because they might be reincarnated anywhere in the world, among boring people and sleepers, with no way of ensuring the contacts in the new life will be as meaningful as ones in the old one. It leads into people clinging onto life even while very old because they're afraid to let go.

I'm sure there's some tragedy waiting right around the corner but for now pretty much just giddily happy that the kids are finally getting some breathing space to sit down and ramble at each other again. Someone pointed out to me that it's been 3 RL years as well as three in the comic itself since Dave and John got to talk to each other, for instance.

...though as welcome as the latest update was I feel it just doesn't quite measure up to the chat logs from the days of yore. But to be fair, topping awkward John/Dave/Karkat relationship chat from the old timeline would be nearly impossible.

... Seriously though, as much as I enjoy the comic I mostly just read it and appreciate the characters and snappy dialogue while boggling at time travel shenanigans I can barely wrap my brain around and don't really get all that into shipping and quadrant speculation. I'm a bad fan.

FWIW I do agree Dave and Karkat are probably moirails, I mean that's basically just taking being bros to the next level. I realize something like 70% of the entire internet is currently squealing in delight at the thought of them bumping uglies and Hussie is only egging them on with his 'gay singularity' comments but that's just not the sense I'm getting from their conversations. But I guess time will tell which side of the fanbase is doing the wishful thinking here.

I mean Karkat is the best but he's still an alien insect creature and I'm not sure how a romantic relationship with a human would even work out, biologically speaking. Putting aside the issue of Rose and Kanaya a moment...

Today at work I used my "wonderfultastics" English skills to try to help a foreign with a lenses problem. It required some detailed conversation, and checking some diameters and diopters and confuse stuff for a non-optometrist like me. In the meanwhile, all the usual customers -old ladies- in the Pharmacy were chatting noisily and asking questions, and I had to attend to many things at the time, and it was quite stressing, though funny. It's very rare I have to talk in English at work, but I did my best, and at the end I gave the foreign guy the direction of the nearest optical store, hoping they could supply them the items we didn't have exactly as he needed them.

Half an hour passed, and I had forgotten about it, supposing he had purchased his lenses in the other place, when I saw him coming back. He just walked to the counter and left there a small box of bonbons for me, for the inconveniences, and waved goodbye while I was busy with other customers.

I found it kind of shocking. If I could, I'd have grabbed his cheeks and shake them, granny style. Sooo cute, so kind! Usually many clients tend to not valorize our time at all, as it always happens here when you do something free of charges. Each one of the bonbons that will go to my hips taste like unexpected gratitude, and restore my faith in the human being. Unknown foreign guy, you made my day, today. Thank you!
