Y'all are more than welcome to come hang out with us Aussies? Seasons here are summer, summer, marginally colder summer, and satan's anus.

Yeah. We are expecting some monster snow storm that changes daily on how much we are supposed to be getting. First it was 1-4 inches. Now supposedly 8-10 inches even possibly a foot. I would literally kill for warm weather since I absolutely hate winter and anything below 60°F.
Oh look, another glorious morning… makes me SICK!

I'd love to but there are too many things there that would be trying to kill me, even inadvertently. Killer snakes, killer bees, killer jellyfish, ....

I used to watch this show where they would tell you all the things that could be deadly to you in a country, and light up the areas the deadly things were found on a map. North America had its few things, lit up in certain areas. Australia? Whole fucking map. For every single deadly thing.
I love you guys but no. Please no.
At least here, with the exception of one or two things in certain regions, you can see the deadly things coming and mostly steer clear(bear, moose)

Just smear a bit of Vegemite on your forehead, you'll be right as rain. But, avoid the drop bears. They get really mad in the heat. They live off of Eucalyptus, which has lots of oil in it, so when they get too hot, they combust.

Killer spiders... a whole lot of those... I'm not nearly as scared of the rest of them as the killer spiders. Not even just black widows, a whole bunch of other creepy crawlers live there too, watched a program about how there's one type of spider there that likes to climb into your clothing, like your shoes. And this guy put his foot in his sneaker and BAM, bitten by this deadly spider, only had hours to live. Then you get to a hospital and it's like, "What bit him?!". Responses are, "Well we don't know, we're going to have to bring up a list of the hundreds of deadly species and hope we get the right one..."
At least with a snake you can possibly get a good look at it. Spiders, not so much.

Re: Thought or Rant of the day!!!
Today I drove too fast into a curve and swerved into a snow bank. No damage done but the driving conditions are outright scary right now. I still need to make the same trip tomorrow. I think I'll go more slowly, even if it meant driving under the speed limit. You can't expect people to do the speed limit when the car is sliding from side to side.

Re: Thought or Rant of the day!!!
There's a curve on the road near my house, and the curve is all patched up and everything. The road is a two-lane country road with a speed limit of 55mph, and the speed on that curve is 40mph. If it's raining or has been raining, you'll hydroplane there doing 40.
The speed limit tells you the maximum speed you should travel when conditions are optimal.
I believe patchy roads and rainy days and snow, even by themselves, qualify as less than optimal conditions.
(I admit I frequently do five over if I'm on a straightaway and the traffic is somewhat light, but not in the rain.)
-=-=-=-=-
My roommate is being indecisive about being an RA and is also pining over her imaginary-boyfriend-who-actually-exists-and-isn't-really-her-boyfriend-obviously.
What do I do? lol

Re: Thought or Rant of the day!!!
Saw my life flash before my eyes on my way to work. We have had more snow yet again today in near white out conditions on my drive to work. (Ugh!) Get to the bridge that crosses the train yard where I work and there is a semi driving in my lane straight toward me. Now had I been driving faster than 20mph (road conditions sucked and my turn is literally on the other end of the bridge but anyway) one of two things would have happened. Either I would have hit him straight on or I would have taken a short cut into the yard by nose diving over tue edge into the trains.
I guess tue driver hopped the median by not being able to see it. Good thing I am a slow a** driver in snow conditions.

Re: Thought or Rant of the day!!!
Yesterday I was driving 10 to 20 km/h slower than the speed limit most of the time. I didn't get passed all that much, except on the motorway. There was a semi going about 80 km/h in the distance, and I didn't want to catch up with it, so I kept going slowly and cars were passing me.

Glad you're alright! Though, rather shaken, I'd imagine!
Oh, while we're talking of snow, we had some yesterday, not a great amount compared to some places, but enough to give cars a decent covering. I typically had to go out early and ending up postponing breakfast (

While working, They show CNN (Communist news network) Keeps showing the battle between Anti Vaccines and Pro Vaccines....Why can't they just have their own choice? Encourage them to get vaccinated, yes. Back it up with proof? Yes. But don't take away the choice from people. I personally don't get vaccines. Period. And I don't get sick. That is my choice. Someone takes that away, there will literally be a physical confrontation. My point is, everyone has their choices they want to make and that's fine, But when that choice gets taken away, that's where I draw the line.

If you get sick with a disease that would be preventable with vaccines, you might not die from it or get permanent injuries, but you might infect a baby who's too young to get vaccinated and that baby won't have as strong an immune system as you have, so the baby might die or go blind/deaf/end up in a wheelchair.

But vaccination for adults? Without no reason?
I read something about the controversy, but I thought it was about children vaccination. We don't have periodical vaccination for adults here (just for old people, or those who have any kind of respiratory problems or allergies). We receive vaccination for 8 different diseases, since the first month of life, until we are 14 years old. I remember that I received one "extra shot" at my 11, because there was a meningitis outbreak in Europe, so I will never get sick of meningitis either.
Imo, I found children vaccination necessary, because you will be protected for the rest of your life against these (mortal) diseases (I'm protected even against tetanus for my whole life).
I don't know how is your area in terms of diseases, but annual vaccination for healthy adults? Against what? Flu maybe?
