Thought or Rant of the day!!!

After seeing his darker, serious film roles, it was apparent to me that he was channeling from personal experience (as he was just too convincing). I think he was so funny because he had to be - making others laugh was probably the only thing that allowed him to stave off his demons for this long, because maybe he couldn't laugh himself. I think this is likely true of most comedians. The funnier they are, the darker they are on the inside. The world is much sadder now, and I'm sad too. But I'm not surprised.

Having seen some of the same films as Doug R, and also knowing what I know about the world of professional comedy... I have to agree with him. It is sad - Robin Williams was a great artist and - from what I understand - a class act to work with all the way around. He had admitted to having many struggles and it's sad to hear that his demons got the best of him at a relatively young age. Rest in peace, Robin Williams.

Of course, this has been one of two major topics of convo today at work. I am still shocked at Robin's death even though it wasn't totally unexpected. Not all comedians are depressed but there's plenty of precedent to say that many do turn to comedy to cover up their own sadness/darkness. It's a common coping mechanism - better to laugh than cry, as the saying goes. Either way, it's definitely tragic and such a shame to lose someone who did so much for others.

Between Robin and the riots happening not too far from here, it's been a couple of crazy news days.

Well, how is this for semi-evil?

Character is plotting the murder of a woman, then plans to try and sell her remains to the woman's lover. Should payment be given or not, the body will be dumped unceremoniously into the sea.

Revenge is sweet!

Now, I am doubtful such a plan is going to go beyond the idle dark fantasies of my *angry* character, but it is one of many awaiting a certain couple out there.
