Wasn't Flizzle.net created by Jos? I think it was created solely so that Cantr would have a server of it's own instead of having to share one at Flump.net.

About the creditibility of having it hosted on the Cantr server, you might be right but as long as it is a site that is built by the fans (as long as it is closely moderated to keep bad stuff from getting on) then I think it is fine. It would beat trying to find another service to host the Cantr fansite. Plus perhaps it could be the Official Cantr Fansite and later someone could create the Unofficial Cantr Website. Plus, I would think that Jos woud like to keep anything related to Cantr close by so that it could be monitered for possible capitial rule breaches and so on. Plus, a fansite would be a great place to have a newbie guide or FAQ and stuff like that. Perhaps even a simulater or demo of Cantr so that players can learn the mechanics. So like create tow locations, add some resources, set it up like Cantr is, add some characters that someone can go in and play around with but are immortal, so that newbies can get the hang of the game before actually playing it. It can work like Cantr except when you enter to play, it allows you to control the actions of a character there. Perhaps even have a few immortals like MUDs do that a staff member controls or just someone assigned to it to talk with someone who uses the simulator to answer questions about it and so on. So it would be like Cantr but OOC comments would be okay to get the mechanics of the game through to newbies. Just a thought I had after reading some players talking about created an island somewhere for newbies to play around on. Instead o creating something in Cantr, create something outside that is like Cantr but a place where a new player can learn the mechanics of the game before playing the actual game.

This is true; we could probably host www.cantrfan.com on flizzle. But it should have its own domain, you know; instead of being www.cantr.net/fans or fans.cantr.net

But yeah: having a little cantr playpen for newbies would be fun...sticking a toe in to test the water before they jump off the deep end.

It'd be REALLY cool if each player kept one character on the mini-island...
a 'player' character; i'd be West, for example, and there'd be Sammi, Oni, Orion, Richard or RK, Jos, TN2, and so forth.
it can be a place to chillax without worrying about power struggles and so forth. I'd like that a lot.

That sounds like an awesome idea...I especially like the part about all newbies going there, and players being able to have chars there to help out he new people...

Yes, that'd be majorly cool. I was thinking having an unofficial fan site, if the regular one would be on the Cantr servers. Just so, if the Cantr server was down, at least the fan site would be up. And I'd give Jos and Thomas and everyone access to it from a moderation standpoint, so, as Richard said, there would be no capital rule breaches. I've already started working on the layout, and I'm about halfway done with the newbie guide. :D

Actually a meant a place where there would be already characters there and all that would happen would that a newbie could get on and control one of the characters there to get a hang of the game and how it works and to have some staff members have characters there to help the through if they need it. Plus, you could add in simple tutorials like when you got to write a note it will go to a page that gives you a tutorial of how to write a note and what you can or cannot do etc... Or when you go to travel it will come up with how traveling works etc... And that can be applied to a lot of things. Just a place for newbies to learn how the mechanices of the game work and to give them a few hints and tips. It would be better than having to continually repeat yourself ingame and on this forum the same questions over and over again.

And it would not be a place for veteran player or staff members to go and chat and play around. It would be place for newbies to get a hang at the game and for staff members to help them in an OOC manner while actually in the game which is easier than trying to explain it on this forum or ruining the RPG experience (not that I care but there are some players that do) with having to exlain OOCingly what to do ect... I also think it would help keep a lot of newbies interested because I think a lot of newbies get frustrated with trying to get the game idea.

I think it would be a good idea.

Plus, you would not have to sign up first. You can sort of try out the game before playing it soe it would be a like a demo. I think a lot of people are turned away from games that they have to sign up for just because they don't want to get too involved. Here they could actually try it out and see it is something they would like. It would also cut down on all of those players that simply make a few characters but after a week quit or stop playing allowing characters to bite the dust due to quiting, starvation, or closure of their account after a month.

If you read the thread in suggestions. Many people think that 'procreation' should be a project. Not sure if I agree with that yet but I can see their point.

Well, RK, what's wrong with having both? a newbie tutorial island and one where players could have characters and chill? That'd rock

and the players' chars could be immortal. No, killable, but they'd re-form at 100% health the next day. That'd be hot.

Exactly. Cantraddict.com will have a forum as well, only that one will be only Non-Cantr-Related only. That way, there shouldn't be the OCC knowledge problem to the extent that it would be otherwise. And, we could get as off-topic as we like. :D
