Hee Hee. I'm sitting here in front of my computer sipping a bottle of Labatt Blue and look at what thread I stumble across. :D

Reading through the first 5 pages, it's amazing how much it feels like I've heard this whole conversation since I was 16. I kind of surprised that the ideas on drinking are apparently very similar in Europe.

I got fairly good at downing drinks right out of high school. At a friend's party Freshman year in college, I answered a dare to do a couple of shots of Everclear. Then I went outside and smoked a joint. Spent the rest of the evening sketching the metabolic pathway for alchol oxidation; solved some second order differential equation for my friend's punk little brother (who thought he was some kind of genius); then topped off the evening leading a rousing political discussion with my young republican friends, quoting biblical scriptures supporting the virtues of socialism. They really regretted their decision to corrupt the National Honor Society president when I was 17. Yeah, I could be an entertaining drunk.

Calmed down a lot since then though. Got my religion back and all the rowdiness worked out of my blood by my 21st. It really irked my friends when on my 21st I only had 2 + 1 beers. It was really funny watching them try to force shots on me.

Never been drunk. I don't like alcohol and I have never been given a good reason as to why I should drink.

My father is a drunk (he is a good drunk though) and I have heard terrible stories about my grandfather as a drunk. So maybe things like that have turned me away from alcohol.

Reasons to drink

Postby Thomcat » Thu Apr 07, 2005 4:19 am

There are always reasons to drink. Like the hockey team sucks this year, and you have season tickets. Beer makes the game... better.

I confess, my M.O. is to get stumbling on microbrews, then meander over to the game. By the time it's over, I'm plenty sober.

The rest of the time, it's just the occasional social drink. Cheers!

I've heard that alchol provides a nice synergism with that addiction Swymir. Never worked for me though. Maybe because I use words like synergism and have a tendency to do math when drunk. Hello, ladies!
