"Pained watery squint against the blinding heat" sightings

Postby kicking jay » Thu Jul 03, 2014 12:12 am

This is the opposite of the Soft Sigh Sighting thread. Post not the short, dime a dozen emotes that that thread's for, but the well thought out ones that leave you wondering how so much could be conveyed in such few words, or the long, descriptive ones that read like a well-written action scene, even though it's just the person turning over in their sleep and muttering.

Post here the excellent emotes.

I see plenty, but I don't like exposing my characters. Still very interested in others' favourite paragraphs.

A: "This belt should be ready for you pretty soon, J. *She smiles over in her direction.* Are you doing alright?"
J: "*As though spurred by the mention of it, her hands dip down and brush against her hip. A bit tense, she speaks quietly * I guess."

J's emotes have been phenomenal and inspiration to me for a long deal of time. Thank you!

Agreed. Simple things like this work for me.. *She begins to slowly mix the combination with her knife, small scraping noises joining the fizzling, though the knife against the stone is muted by the mass atop it*
You speak in every curling wave and sing in every violent breeze.

X Y says: "I love you, foxy fire. *his words are pronounced quietly and deliberately, just enough for her to hear, and no more. Fire meeting the big water. A mystifying black hole, swallowing a milky galaxy, entire.*"

Merely the tip of the iceberg... Having a heart that regularly skips a beat is a tough business.
"She could make something sound stupid just by hearing it.”
"For a short moment there, you almost sounded human."

I posted these in the "soft sigh sightings" thread out of sarcasm, but now that there's a legitimate thread for this I feel compelled to post them here too.

Snickie wrote:4240-4.16: a woman in her sixties says: "Meat is like the best-tasting stuff I've ever eaten. It's just so.... meaty.... *If cartoonish waterfalls of drool could run from her mouth, they would. But this is Cantr, not a cartoon, so she just dreamily stares at the meat she just picked up with a dreamy grin on her face, and only a sliver of drool escapes from the corner of her mouth. She maintains this image for a moment, and then stuffs the meat into her face much like the way Cookie Monster would eat cookies, only much less messily because who would want to waste such good meat? Not she, apparently. It is gone in a matter of seconds.*"

Made me chuckle.

You hear from radio at freq. 100: "*A goofy man's voice* If I remember correctly...oh! I'm on. Mr. Landis. This is the incomparable Biin, at your service, sir. It seems I have found myself in the general venue of a radio in the Zuzi Factory, here. If you'd like, I can relay a message to the Empress or...whomever it is you seek. *There's a ruffling sound.* Or...um... I could go ~get~ said personage, too. *Chuckling* My apologies. I'm not used to such secretarial duties. ... um, over. *There is an awkward silence.* Oh, right, I have to take my finger off the butt.... *SQUAWK* "

And makes me chuckle reading it.
As I recall, basically anything Biin does /ever/ is hilarious. Especially around when one of my characters first met him - someone remind me to post some of the stuff from then, it was rather impressive and entertaining.

Finally got around to searching through my logs for some of Biin's hilarious arm-flailing. Again, love this character, just a bit sad that my character in the area hasn't been super-wakeful.

*He bows again, and waves his arms like a recently plucked chicken.*

*He flourishes his arms like a dizzy toucan as he bows.*

*he bows and gives a flourish with his arms, waving them about like a drunken ballerina with an ear canal problem dancing on a lilting dinghy*

*He bounds over and stops before Nine. He bows deeply and gives a flourish with his hands reminiscent of a drunken monkey pickpocket.*

That's.... probably enough for now. He managed another impressive and kind of amazing arm-flailing bow today but it's probably too early to quote that.
