That was probably worded badly. I didn't look down on the ones who got pregnant and took responsibility for it. One of them was a friend of mine and we remained friends, or at least as much as was possible. She had to drop out. Seeing the consequences was enough for me to want to avoid taking the risk. I had plans for my life that didn't involve dropping out of high school to raise a kid.
I disliked the ones who bragged about all their supposed experience without caring about the consequences. I've no doubt many of those girls who were bragging would have had an abortion or otherwise would not have taken responsibility. So, yes, I thought they were foolish. Especially since they thought it somehow made them cooler than everyone else.

This annoys me every time I see the topic title: it's "abstinence", not "abstinance".

Re: Abstinence
I only came here looking for completely absurd and/or sarcastic defenses of one side or the other. I feel like everyone's heard 98% of what is going to get said. I can't say I care much what others did or didn't do or did and wish they didn't or didn't and wish they did, just don't lecture me about what I should or shouldn't do or shouldn't or should have done unless it's witty enough to post in a facebook status message. Thanks!

I have to change my answer.
Now I have to change it back.
Wait a second. You mean the word "it" in the first choice "Yes, I'm doing it" doesn't refer to the sex act? Oh, never mind, then....

OP must be an ear virgin.
P.S. I just watched Dogtooth. Maybe his parents do the same thing with redefining words.

Re: Abstinence
I lost my virginity to one of my good female friends in a one night stand. After that, I got involved with a 32 year old cougar who taught me some things about sex I didn't know before, but I'll spare you the detail,(Not a big deal now because I'm 30 , but at the time I was much younger). My early experiences with sex didn't mean very much beyond just sex, I always wished there had been more feeling involved. Losing your virginity in a one night stand is just a step above losing it to a hooker really. That, plus I didn't agree with what I had done on moral grounds, so I suffered spiritually also. I don't know, it's hard to tell someone they should abstain, most people will end up having sex anyway. The world has become like the old Nike slogan, Just Do It; it's how our culture is these days. I would say, if you can abstain it would be a good test of the bf/gf. If a man/woman is willing to stay with you and doesn't try to get you to compromise they probably genuinely care about you, because it could involve waiting one or two years for sex. It's obviously not just about sex then, if that's the case; then you can rule out at least one shallow quality in that person. Plus, if you don't agree with it for moral reasons you won't have that on your conscience. So, I would say it's better to abstain, but if you must have sex outside of marriage at least it should be with someone you are in a serious relationship with, one that will more than likely progress to marriage.

Re: Abstinence
The question is a bit double.. Putting it the way it is I say No, It's not Owrth the wait, but that is not entirely what I mean.
On one side I think sex (if done properly) is absolutely amazing and one should do it often an as best as he/she can, now exactly because it is this good one could say: It's so good, you should keep it for a special occasion. I preferably say: It's so good, why wait for a special occasion if you can do it about 100 times before that?! So.. Yes it's worth the wait, but I wouldn't wait... I haven't.
